R50/53 PIAA 510 Driving Lamps - Want opinion on look of lights

PIAA 510 Driving Lamps - Want opinion on look of lights

Hi all,

I am on the fence with the look of my driving lamps. They work great at night but I think the look of the rock guard is too aggressive and "pick-up truck like" for my personal taste. But then again, when I remove the guards the lights just look naked.

I would love to have chrome trim rings for around the edge of the lamps but PIAA doesn't sell any.

Think it is possible to find ones for another brand and modify them for my PIAA lamps?

I had the PIAA's on my car for awhile.
Never did put the cover on, to rice looking.
Suggestion for the chrome look.
Dismantle light, take rim pieces you want chromed to a powder coating shop.
They have all sorts of colors includeing chrome.

I've been searching around a while for simple lamp rims but no luck. I guess for the time being I will keep the guards off and look into getting the housing powder coated. Thanks for the suggestion.

My Mini came with a set of PIAA lights on her. I've actually recently removed them to paint the brackets that had started to rust and it was such a pain to remove them that I might leave them off. I have a few other plans I'm in the process of completing before I'll be think about putting them back on.

Doesn't really sound like it, eh? Hahaha Maybe painting the shields to match the color of your car and leaving the PIAA white would look decent enough to keep them. That's something I've been considering doing!

Hmm that is an interesting idea as well, especially since I already have a lot of the hyper blue/white theme already there.

I will have to think about this!

They'll definitely be unique to your car! And if you dont like them, I can always sell you my shields after :P hahaha

I don't know... the covers never bothered me when I had the car/lights.

I ordered these lights last fall, and never did install them. I ended up sending them back. I thought they looked a bit too big and didn't like the rock shields either. The black backs didn't bother me much because they kinda went with my black stripes.
