R50/53 White Wheels
Hi folks,
I'd like to hear from some of you who opted for the white wheels with your Cooper...
I've ordered the 17" S-lites in white, but my dealer tried to discourage me, saying they would be harder to keep clean than the silver.... Can anyone confirm?
Are there any restrictions in terms of the type of cleaners that can be used on the white wheels?
Thanks,
Satchmo

I have the white wheels on Holly. They look great but are a PAIN to clean. I could literally wipe them down every day and they'd still be grey with break dust after each drive to work. I washed her last week and I had to scrub the wheels with steel wool because the break dust was pitted on the wheels. When they are clean they look awesome but be prepared to do some work to keep them clean!
Actually, they get just as dirty as the silver does...
But if you have access to a hose, you can clean them easily in about 10 minutes, 7 of which are spent doing something else... get them good and foamy with some foaming tire wet, (i use Black Magic in the can), wait a little bit, but not so long that it dries, and then hose them off... it won't look perfect, but unless you're washing your MINI every day, neither will the rest of the car... (esp. if you drive it in the rain.. egads, where did all that mud come from???)

The white v-spokes aren't any harder to clean than the R90's.
The R90's took longer to clean, but I didn't have to do it as often. The white v-spokes are pretty easy to clean, but since they're white I clean them about twice as much as the R90's.
Regardless, white wheels, white roof, white mirrors, and white bonnet stripes is a very very nice look in my not so unbiased opinion.

I waxed my wheels, per advice from a person at my dealer's service area. When washing the car, at the car wash, I spray the tire stuff on, then rinse and it works pretty good. I have the silver wheels and they get so dirty and it annoys me.
