Best use for stupid cup holder.

Okay so the cup holder that is just to the right of the radio stack is a real pain, I am on the fence if I even like the look of it and plus I never use it. So I was tempted to just remove it.

But today a good friend of mine, Meghan, gave me something to put in my car. Something that would force me to keep the cup holder...

My MINI's name is Gizmo, so it is only fitting to have Gizmo in the car

I guess only the "Gremlins" fans out there would understand this!

Lol. Come on dude, my cup holder gets some use other than being a part time water bottle/thermos canteen/fastfood drink holder! Nice touch with the Gizmo(Gremlins!!!!) plush though. I sometimes use the cup holder to hold my cell phone or wallet on occasion.

I wish my R50 had one of those. Why all the hate usually for this thing. Right now I have to use the rear cup holder behind me to have a cup in the car as the 2 front ones are useless.

The best use for a cup holder is to hold a Pepsi!

Just be careful about accidentally leaving the sunroof open on a rainy day!

I always used mine to hold my phone! I could tilt it so I could read the screen without having to pick it up.

I like your ingenuity. I agree, it is annoying at times, however, I use mine all of the time.

Had to take mine off, the PO used a big cup apparently and it scratched the dash pretty bad behind it...

Europeans aren't in the habit of dining while driving like americans do so their application of cup holders is based on rumor rather than actual practice.
If you got one, you'd soon change your mind. It swings over to the left and pushes buttons you don't want pushed, it swings to the right and gets in the way of passengers while scratching the glove box and it won't hold anything while you take those curves like they were meant to be taken. Mine lasted all of two weeks and was quickly gone and NOT missed.

I have one on mine but I'm looking to possibly modify it to hold my iPhone or possibly the new iPad 2!

It's just a crappy cup holder. It would swing back and forth, and coffee splashed out of it if I hit any bumps on the road. I have removed mine, and I am in the same boat as you, using the rear holder. I generally just do not eat or drink anything while I am driving.. it's more to transport my coffee from the shop to the park, or whatever.

My car has its cup holder, and its used all the time to hold beverages, phones, gloves, whatever. I never have any problems with it.

I still have the one from El Kabong in the original packaging it came in. I told my MA NOT to install it when they weren't installing the front license plate bracket.

That thing is freaky, your gonna be driving some night all alone in a spooky street and ur gonna glance over and see the gremlin staring at you. You will open your sunroof/window and pull the whole cupholder out and throw it out of the window

That is what I am worried about! Don't want him turning into a gremlin and messing up my upholstery.

Also, I have a bit of the German mentality with driving, I want to enjoy the drive (who doesn't, in a MINI? ) so the rear is for transporting a drink. I wait until I am done driving before I take a drink.

I use that cup holder for a cup holder mounted iPhone holder. The rear cup holder is the only one that actually fits a cup without spilling the enclosed liquid everywhere.

I also am a bit German with my driving. Driving is an activity in itself, why would you eat/drink while doing it? Would your eat or drink while making love? Same difference.

My MINI Fini holds anything it wants to. Even a cold beer if it's been good... And yes I even eat and drive at the same time too..... What'a novel idea someone came up with don'tcha all think? But not during sex as was suggested above... Well not food anyway...

I removed mine. It was ALWAYS in the way of switches, shift lever, or passenger's knee. Poor solution o the "Where should we put a cupholder? question.
