R50/53 Dragons Tail????
I have just found out that i will be working in North Carolina next week (for 2 weeks at least). Should I drive down and spend my stay over weekend driving to the famed "Dragons Tail"????
What is everyones opinion?

is this actually a question - "should I go to the Dragon?" OF COURSE! There is no bad time to go, however wintertime, I wouldn't expect to be pushing 10 minute times from bridge to crossroads. Take it easy your first few times through.

Yes by all means you must drive it. We drove it this summer with the Prowler and it was a hoot. It is a great experience, but don't mess up and get your picture on the resturant wall.

Weather here in NC is strange to say the least. Last week, like most here on the East Coast, was fantastic, this week is another story. Rain yesterday, snow today and bitter cold for the next few days. Alright bitter cold to us, maybe not for everyone but 13 is cold!
I'd recommend driving down just for the chance, if they get snow there are some other great roads in the Piedmont section of the State you can tour.
Although "they" are talking about a warming trend to kick in by the first of next week. When are you looking to head this way?
Just to wet your appetite here is a map view of the dragon, funny I remember more turns!

I'd make sure to warm the tires up well on the first mile or so before really beginning to push it. Even a moderate pace on the Dragon is a blast in the MINI, and I would definitely spend a day playing in the area!
Have fun!
