R50/53 Farthest drive in a Mini?
Sitting inside watching the truly crappy weather here in the northeast, I was wondering....What's the farthest anyone has driven their Mini on a trip?
I did a 1515 mile trip to Nebraska last August in 2 days. Did 1000 miles the first day and the remainder the next. Then did the same thing back 5 days later. I'm sure others have gone farther....I'd love to hear about it!

Over Labor Day weekend this year I did Richmond, VA to Minneapolis, MN for a friend's wedding which was around 2500 miles roundtrip. It was great - the MINI wanted to go more!
I had to fill up 3 times (4 tanks total one way)....this was a few weeks before the JCW installation. No problems whatsoever and my lower back was in good shape all the way.
My total trip was 6 days:
Day 1 - 4 hours
Day 2 - 18 hours (I was beat!)
Days 3, 4 - wedding stuff
Day 5 - 9 hours
Day 6 - 10-11 hours

Our maiden voyage was 2800 miles:
12/12 Picked MINI up in Dallas and drove to Lubbock
12/13 Drove to Santa Fe
12/14 Spent another night in Santa Fe
12/15 To Flagstaff
12/16 To Bakersfield
12/17 To Fort Ross (California Highway 1)
12/18 To Brookings (Oregon Coast Highway)
12/19 To Portland
12/20 To Seattle
It was a fabulous trip. The MINI performed flawlessly and the California and Oregon coastal highways were made for the MINI.
One picture: a small section of Route 66 in western Arizona.

What a way to bond with your new MINI.

I live on an island 40 miles wide-how far do you think I could go on a trip? Not far, a few 100 would be a long day.
One of our recent new MCS owners bought from a Florida dealer and drove his new MINI across country to southern California- 3000 plus miles and then shipped it to Hawaii.
I know this summer Clo and Wicked Wanda went on a very long 10,000+ mile journey from the West coast to the East and back.

Back in october, we took my wife's '02 Cooper CVT on a 2,800 mile roundtrip from Miami, FL to Williamsburg, VA and back. We drove thru Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Tennesee. The car loved the open highway and we took it in many twisty mountain back roads (The Blue Ridge Parkway and adjacent roads were built for the MINI). We had never had this much fun "Shifting" in Steptronic mode and using engine braking power like a true manual tranny car in the downhills while everyone else was riding on their brakes and overheating them in the process
. After this trip, we came away extremely impressed by the CVT transmission abilities.
The car was soo comfortable, soo smooth, soo responsive, soo reliable, soo fuel efficient, that after this we are hooked on roadtrips. perhaps next trip I will take my '04 MCS, but the CVT was mighty fun!.
We used to fly everywhere for our vacation trips. Now days flying is risky business, terrorism threats, never ending security check delays at airports, in all and all, flying is not the fun it used to be. I think that most people now days are re-discovering the fun of family roadtrips like in the old days and the MINI, we believe, has been instrumental in this new roadtripping vacation trend.

I know there are others that've put in more miles on a single roadtrip but the most I've done is 4500 miles.
Went to Chicago, from LA, and back.
Roads/States taken:
* I-10, I-15, I-40 in CA
* I-40 & Route 66 in AZ, NM, TX, & OK
* I-44 & Route 66 in OK & MO
* I-55 & Route 66 in MO & IL
* I-80 through IL, IA, & NE
* I-76 through CO
* I-70 through CO & UT
* I-15 through UT, NV, & CA
My wife's a Chicagoan, thus my reason for going. I'll do it again this coming summer.
