Question about the tire jack

Hello,

I just got a wonderful 2006 mini cooper for Christmas last week. I asked the dealership to put the jack back but it is still laying on the floor behind the back seat. So I thought I would ask here on the Forum. Where is the jack usually stored? I looked in the book but it says under the luggage compartment. So I looked that that is where the battery is. Please Help!

ooohhhhh

that's a very contentious question . . . .

perhaps you should explore the search function . . .

many poo-poo run flats

some point out the indentended advantages

your choice; but it should be an informed choice.

The jack goes in a bag that attaches to the metal clips in the boot (left or right side). I don't have a pic of mine right now but I am looking. The jack can come in handy if you get rid of run flats.

Daflake is correct.

There are hooks in the boot (trunk if you must), the bag has hooks on either end and you stretch the hooks to attach to those in the boot. Being a used car, it is possible the previous owner (or the dealer) lost the bag.

Even if you don't have a spare tire, your car comes with a jack.

Thank you everyone. With it being used car and a mini, some of the set up is different then my other cars. I found a black bag in the house to use and put the jack in it.

does anyone else find the "stock jack" to be dangerously too small and unsafe? I've had it wiggle several times when I jacked it up to swap out my summer tires.

In my mini under the carpet in the trunk is were the battery is. So for now I put the pieces of the jack in there. I also gave instructions that it along with the smaller one that says Mini on it stays in the car. Period. I know my family they will take it out and then forget to put it back. Yes it has runflats on it but I want to keep it in there just incase.

Most cars stock jacks are unsafe. I also disike the "donut" for a sparetire. In my bigger cars, if there was room for a real (regular) tire I would get rid of the donut.

Congrats firstly on acquiring one of what I believe to be the best MINIs made. The '05 and the '06, IMO, are the best of the bunch.

All JustaCoopers come with jacks.

My '02 MCS did not come with a jack (runflats).

Customers complained about no jack in the MCSs, so MINI started supplying the Ss with jacks I think around '04 or '05.

My '06 MCS came with a jack, but I am one of the strange MINI owners in that I like the Runflats and will always have Runflats on the MINI. However, the jack stays in the boot attached as described by other posters.

Enjoy that MCS!!!!

You really need a good jack for any work on the car. The jack that comes with the MINI should only be used for emergencies.

The jack goes in a bag, which contains the jack, a tow hook, and a few accessory's. Here is a pic of the bag, and then where it goes in the boot(i drew a diagram where the bag would attach to the hooks, either on the right or left.

my point was that in broad daylight in a parking lot I had trouble with the thing... if I had to change the tire at night on the side of the road where I probably parked half in gravel, it'd be much worse. hurray for run-flats?

Achilless, thank you for the pictures.
Moreorless, thank you for the information about some history of the Mini.

Runflats, Never had them before. Seem fine for now.
Still learning the different terminology of everything. Trunk=Boot and all.

I am still so excited about my Mini !!!
