JCW exhaust before/after

I recenty had a JCW exhaust installed on my 2005 MCS. I was given a great deal on one that I could not pass up so I pulled the trigger. I was looking for a new exhaust to get more flow, less weight and a little cool factor. Was not interested in anything loud because I did not want the neighborhood cats jumping off the windowsill as I drive by... I had researched the Milltek and could not justify the price, others seemed to be to loud for my taste.

Well this week thanks to -=gRay rAvEn=- and Greasys in Worcester MA I am the proud owner of the JCW exhaust.

Before:

No cool factor
Stumbling between 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears
A bit of popping or burbling coming off the gas pedal

After:

Some cool factor (I like the tips)
Smoother running motor and no more stumbling between 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears
More response to the gas pedal
Very quiet and no popping/burbling coming off the pedal. (Does not seem to be any louder than my old stock unit.)

Current config:

15% pully
JCW Intake
JCW Exhaust

I did not expect this big a difference... I do not think all of the improvement is in my imagination.

Greasys did have 3 or 4 JCW exhausts sitting in boxes at their garage... Anyone looking for a Chistmas present for themselves?

Glad you like it! I've got the Borla Street (versus the Borla Race) on my MCS and I love it as well, not too loud.

Could you PM the info on the other exhausts? I've got a friend that may be interested.

Best thing about those exausts they got, they are the EARLY JCW exaust...no crimp in the pipe to make it fit the cabrio (sorry rag-top folks), so the sound is just a bit better, and it flows just a bit better than the newer version!!
Best of all...brand-new JCW goodness, still in the factory boxes!!
The boxes are huge...about the size of a shipping pallet, and about 18-24 inches tall, so I don't know if they are shippable..they were delivered by truck...drop-shipped I think.
But if you drop in, I'm sure he can bolt it on!!

The boxes were very BIG.

It was about an our for the install in their shop. I am a DIY guy, but the install was worth the $$$. I do not have torches, and a lift makes the job MUCH easier.

When I dropped by the shop today, it was hopping!!
The parking lot was full of double-parked Mini's...the shop was busy...I had to park on the street!! Heck, if I hadent't known better, I would have thought it was a meet up point for a group drive!! Too bad it wasn't...we had more Mini's there then on a few drives I have been on!! Just another day at the shop I guess!!

Mileage is actually up slightly right now. It will probably go way down when I start to drive it hard again with the snow tires off.

I will trade the popping & burbling for it driving much better any day. It would have been cool to have both, but the higher flow is probably what gets rid of it.

With my Invidia exhaust, it has great flow and it pops and burbles. Its a lower tone than the stock and JCW.

If I'm not mistaken, the pops are programed into the ecu and does not affect the performance.

Different exhausts will either enhance or muffle the pops.

I do recall reading that. It is strange that an OEM exhaust would eliminate that particular feature unless the programming must take the type of exhaust into consideration (back pressure, flow rate etc...). I had spent quite a bit of time researching and listening to exhausts on YouTube and I was considering getting an Invidia based on price/sound until this JCW fell into my lap. As I mentioned before, with the overall improvement in drivability of the car, shifting etc... I am ok with the loss of those noises.
