R50/53 i got her! i got my daphne!
i finally picked her up today after such a long wait. haha im a newbie at stick shift driving so i stalled like 200 times on the 2 hour drive home. then my uncle came and showed me what i was doing wrong and now it's become more natural to me and i don't stall anymore. my takeoffs are smooth most of the time except for uphill climbs, i can't take off without screeching. i'll get used to it.
LOVE the supercharger sound. LOVE the navi system.
btw, when i was screwing up earlier during takeoffs, i accidentally revved over 4500rpm a couple of times, is that really REALLY bad for the engine? i hope not.

qpid,
Don't worry too much. Just practice and you will get the hang of it and it will be easier. Once it all becomes routine to shift then you can really have some fun. The MINI is very responsive and nimble. It will take you some time to get used to the car so keep motoring. A little bit over 4500 rpm is not bad if you don't do it too often during the breakin period. After the breakin that is where you want to be for more power.

Hey qpid,
Congrats on your new MINI! The more you drive it the better you will get using the clutch. In no time at all you will an expert at shifting. Tell us about your MINI and what options you got and what color, etc. Have you joined your local MINI club? Motor on!
