I was sitting in the driver’s seat, trying to adjust the seat’s tilt.
This adjustment requires forcing my fat fingers between the seat and the recently installed after-market armrest.

While feeling around for the adjustment-lever, both windows and the sunroof began to open, just like when the wings on the key are depressed for a few seconds.

I jerked my hand away and the widows and sunroof stopped.

What gives??????

Were the MINI keys in your pants pocket and when you twisted to adjust the seat the key control button was hit causing the sunroof and windows to open? I trigger my car alarm this way alot and when holding many things with my keys at once.

Good question, but no. The key was in the ignition; the engine was running.

This is a problem others have had also. What the fix is, I can’t tell you, but it will require a trip to the dealer for reprogramming of the options. You have a malfunctioning system.

A manfunctioning system, I can believe. Since buying a MINI I've made more trips to the dealer than I have to the bathroom.

Should I tell the dealer to turn off the option wherein the windows open when the driver fumbles for the seat-tilt adjust-lever? Could there be such an option?!?!?

Installing the armrest involved drilling three screws into the rear cupholder. Could I have shorted-out a circuit?

I think you will find that you have voided your warranty by installing the after market armrest.

I haven't read the fine print but I wouldn't be surpirsed if fuzzy dice void the warranty.

I think it is an issue of what you describe as your fat fingers. You are in need of finger reduction surgery. Some insurance covers this if medical need can be established and your MA probably has a physician on staff who can sign the necessary paperwork. I suffered a not disimilar problem when I first got my MC. My Fat Head Syndrome made it virtually impossible to figure out how to open the bonnet or to even figure out what the boot was. Surgery has changed my life!

Seriously, best wishes. Even after my head reduction surgery I don't get much of the ways of my MC.
