WOW, after a day with a loaner MCS, I do have to say that I am impressed with some of the luxury items.

First some Background.

My MCS, Dark Silver/Black - only option is the sunroof. I love the open feel of it.

Their loaner. Britsh Green/White, Sunroof, HK sound, Performance package, Heated seats (cloth like mine) 17's and I think AS run flats. Climate control. Xenons with fogs.

First, man I love heated seats. the bottom gets a wee bit hot and I turn that off after 5 minutes in 30 degree temps here in the states, but I leave the back on the whole time. Makes for a nice ride.

Second, the climate control is fantastic. In my Stripped MCS, I am forever changing the venting, the temp and fan speed to get a good mix. I smoke so that adds to the reasons but I like to always drive with one or both windows cracked an inch.

The Xenons have great visibility right off the bat at night and the fogs are good to spread out light over the closeto-the-side areas.

Harmon Kardon system is a magnitude of order better than the stock stero. I ma no AudioPhile, but Phobol, my partner in the twisties on 4 whhels even liked it. He's nutz about audio. I just need NPR on the radio or some college station or one of my wacky Bootsauce mix CD's

But here's the rub, I put on a MOMO Anotomico short **** to cure the stock ****. I could not get used to the stock **** of the loaner -- damn cold!

So, if I do get another MCS, it will have the heated seats and the climate control. Boy do I like those things. The Xenons and fogs were nice but not enough to warrant the monthly lease fee for me. And the HK sound? Well, no audiophile here.

Yeah, I am rambling now, but in the icy patches, I noticed that the DSC of the loaner asts much quicker than the ACS of my car. I might go for the Sports Package as well if there is a next time. After all, I have sworn off from this family from ever having a Daimler Chrsyler product. Especially JEEP. Good Riddance.

Special thanks to Ben, Brian and the service dept at Morristown Mini, NJ for everything. I still have to go back when a tech is on-site to get some programming done. Perhaps this Saturday. I'll contact them. Great bunch of guys, especially Ben who asked me to take special care of the loaner. I did.

I am sure it is a good thing. Well maybe. The links in the first post speak volumes.

And no, this is not the forum to discuss other products, but they were to supply a refence to why I went from one vehicle to another. Simply, the need for be trated OK if something goes wrong.

Ask me how I would like a timing chain at highway speed fails, and the manufacturer would not matter. Most would agree with me.

Ya know what? After owning 3 Grand Cherokees and one Liberty (all NEW and handed back on lease under 25K miles) , the 'wannabe' comment just makes me snap. Sorry.

I am happy with Morristown MINI and the lengths they have gone to help me. And I think they know I work with them on relations. Not all dealers seem to care about a public image or repeat busniess. Hence my links.

please re-read. I said the Liberty, not you. Buying a car under Jeep skin is begging for trouble.

How did I buy a car under Jeep skin?

And yes, you are corect, you called it a wannabe Jeep, not me.

Still, do you have a point or are you just trolling to make your Grand Cherokee self feel better?

I had a few GC's too ya know. obviously you never read the links. You just felt the need to flamebait and troll.

But you are fun to play with.

Not to instigate anything, but I think the only real Jeep is the military original one. Same goes for those silly Hummers.

Welcome to NAM erikgil! I hope your experience with MINI service works out for you.. So far I haven't really had that many problems, but my sales lady always helps me out when I do.

Another thing that I think is worth mentioning is that car dealerships are like computer dealerships. The people selling the product usually have no idea how it works. So if something breaks, and you bring it back, they'll send it out to someone that knows about it. If you know about computers, you just repair them yourself. If you know about cars and engines, you can just repair them yourself (most of the time, but these days it's getting more complicated.).

Anyway, just my two cents.

Some posts from this thread have been removed.

I will continue to keep an eye on this and if the situation warrents we'll just move this right over to Under Review instead of cleaning it up again.

Let's all try to be a little nicer to one another here and post cleanly.

DiD,

Good idea.

My first reaction was out of line.

Thanks for moderation.

It is always best to think twice and post once. In the event you decide the post was out of line you can always delete it yourself by clicking edit post and then delete this post.

Personal credibility is easily lost if you fly off the handle at replies that you do not agree with.

We are all here to share idea's, gain knowledge and most of get along with each other.

back onto the main topic here, I think you raise some interesting points for people that are still waiting to spec their MINIs. The cold weather package is one item I would like now, that I didn't get (I took a pre-spec and as such had to take it or leave it and wait to order).

I had a 2000 VW Jetta GLS VR6 with the leather package, monsoon (similar to MINI's HK), heated seats, and a moonroof.

Here's a pic:

So you ...

Ya know what, I am done here.

You want to censor, so be it.

Look at how I started the thread. Then look at the first person to say "wannabe"

I was being complimentary to my local dealer and very vaguely contrasting them to how I have been screwed before.

It;s not like I called any old user a punk, just someone who decided to grab a little bit of detail and focus on it. Like I even have a choice in the Liberty I have.

But no, go censor. sorry, you over reacted.

The only real Jeep is the FJ40 Landcruiser. What the CJ should have been.

Did a search for that.. Wow. That's a crazy machine. I remember seeing some of those on the roads.. Yes, those are definitely nice.

Anyway, back on topic, ya.. I should have gotten more options when I got my MCS.. I'm kicking myself for not getting the PDC and the heated seats. Those two things I can live without, but would make enjoyment better. I never heard the HK system... Wondering I if should have gotten it, or just go out and get a nice aftermarket setup. I probably wouldn't use the PDC for parking.. More like going in reverse and making sure I don't run over anything small or fragile. I remember reading a thread on here that said PDC can pick up stationary and moving objects under 12 inches high, which puts it into the child or cat or dog hanging out behind the car. Oh well.. Anyone with PDC want to comment on how it works for them and if was worth it?

You Both Win!!!

The motor (the "Pentagon" engine) was, in fact, designed by Chrysler engineers in Michigan (pre-merger). However, the Pentagon is assembled in Brazil by Tritec.

Germany (Mercedes & BMW), the United States (Chrysler) and Brazil (location of the manufacturing plant) established the joint venture named Tritec Motors Ltda. prior to the Daimler-Chrysler merger. Now it has become a 50/50 venture between Daimler-Chrysler and BMW Group.

(info from "The New MINI" by Patrick Paternie)

FWIW,

Theo
