I used the search and got this and while it told me to look at the owners manual, I can't do that now. Plus I am a internet geek and would like to just cut n' paste

I'd like to be able to email a list of the features to my dealer to get all the features I want set the way I want them.

The car is at the dealer because of a cold start problem and I am requesting they look into it as well as uploading v.36.

Thanks!

Good luck getting all the options you want programmed...

I've been to 3 dealers now to get the "convenience options" in my 04 MCS programmed the way I want -- to no avail. It's not clear to me what the problem is. Either the MINI dealer network is staffed by incompetents, or the techs are not being trained properly, or the vaunted BMW engineers can't get some of these features to work as advertised. Regardless, considering how long this car has been out, there is simply no good excuse for this.

It all depends on when your MINI's build date was, too. Not all cars are able to do the same thing... Or so I've been told....

---> 911fan: while I agree that it seems most MINI service department are staffed with undertrained incompetents, the '04 BCM is much different than earlier years; you cannot turn off the Convenience function with the '04 like you can with the '03's and '02's. The dealership should know this, but that might be asking too much

--->erikgil: Getting the functions programmed you want is kind of like pulling teeth. Each dealership seems to be polarized to only the options they feel are relevant, and ignore the rest. I finally got my dealership to admit they can program everything, but that they won't do it, and they wouldn't tell me why either I think some miraculous persuasion techniques are required to get the car programmed to your liking. I'm always amused how they try to charge you for reprogramming the BCM - when they never let you choose all the options you wanted when taking delivery! Highway robbery at it's finest.

ecl3x: I also have an 04 MCS and the express down feature is not programmable. I feel this should have been incorporated as a saftey feature so the driver doesn't have to stretch and keep his finger on toggle while driving. Apparently Mini/BMW had considered it but, did make this a working feature.

ecl3x, apexer:

The "express down" window feature works on my 04 MCS. The trick is to quickly depress and let go of the toggle switch - don't hold it down. btw, this works for both the driver's and passenger's windows. Unfortunately, neither window has an "express up" feature.

The 'express up' is a safety concern. Something about little Timmy and his weak fingers. Most of us are more responsible, but accidents do happen. It'd be nice to figure out a way of tricking it so it will do 'express up'.

There is no detent on the MINI. Just press down and release in one motion. If you hold down for more than about a half second, the window will just stop upon release of the switch.

Ok,

I would like to vent a little. MY dealer, also MCM, never told me what was available, never asked what I would like configured on my car. I believe MINI USA would want this courtesy extended to me. Most certainly at the very least, at the time I took delivery.

I can understand, after the initial configuration, that a dealer, do to workload can't just keep reconfiguring my OBC every time I feel compelled to pull in, but too never explain what options are available too me, and offer to program them to my likeing for free at least once?
Getting way off topic now, but:

MINIUSA,

We the Michigan consumers need another dealership to compete against MCM.
This dealer is obviuosly way overwhelmed trying to meet the needs of current and potential customers do to the extremely high demand for your product. It's hurting your reputation, and the reputation of your parent company.

Now, back to our regulary scheduled thread.

Just for the sake of comparison, my dealer (Tom Bush in Jacksonville) called me specifically to ask about my preferences regrading the various programmable functions, and the car was set up the way I specified when I took delivery. Every dealer should do the same, and many do. The Motor City is definitely lame.

MINI of the Mainline (Philly) did not even ask about this. That was the one complaint that I mentioned when MINIUSA called me after delivery with their phone survey (I later discovered that nobody at the dealership thought to fill the window washer tanks). If MINIUSA followed up with the dealer they did not bother to follow up with me.

I was satisfied with all other aspects of the car delivery.

I had the same experience as Countrym; John Lloyd of Roadshow MINI gave me a form of programmable features that I checked off. I added more than the obvious ones on the form, and they did it all upon delivery. One, the auto unlock function was not programmed, but he quickly remedied that fact when I went to pick up my tag. So far all the programmables work the way they were programmed. Kudos to john and Roadshow- he really knows his car.
I did however ask for the audible low fuel alarm, but have not yet had the opportunity to test it!

East Bay Mini has been great with me. I went in Dec 4th to do the spec'ing and before I walked out they gave me a packet of things including a list of the programming options to give to them before the car is delivered to have active or not.

The list is as follows:

Day Time Running Lights
Pathway Lighting
Automatic Locking at 10mph
Audible Fuel Lamp Warning
Auto Unlocking with Turning off the ignition

That's all they have but if some one knows others let me know

My mini went into production a couple of days ago, Motoring six to eight weeks from now........YAAAAAAAA
