I would go back there and demand they fix it, and make sure its fixed properly...then I'd give MINI USA a call and complain about the poor service at that dealership. What they did was dangerous.

I'd find another dealer...that dealer sounds like a joke. How can they mess up so badly?

They really are a joke - it's totally hilarious how horrible the Service department at Motor City MINI is. I've given them all the space, time, and leeway in the world, but there must be a line drawn when they start endangering the lives of the customers!

Classic MINI in Cleveland, OH is currently our next closest option, about 200 miles away.

I am sure you did not give them a brake, I mean a break in the Dealer Rating system. Going to take a look.

I am really curious to know what MINIUSA is going to do about that dealer. Keep us posted.

Regards,
Red

>>OK, here is a wonderful story of our beloved mechanics at motor city mini, two weeks ago i had my mini serviced at motor city mini for rear brake pads, and when i got the car back the brakes squealed like mad, the dealer told me they can no longer look at my brakes because they spent too much money fixing it in the first place and they could look at it for 90 bucks an hour and that was no guarantee that they could fix it, and they told me i was lucky that they even fixed it in the first place since it was over 50k miles, so i left with the squeal, well Ryephile and I took a look tonight at the rear brakes and what we found amazed us both, both pads were used pads from another car, they were worn down past half way and they looked very deteriorated not two weeks of use by any means, also both boots on my calipers where torn from a screwdriver or something, and the kicker was on the driver side the brake pad just fell off it was never attached to the piston, in fact the boot on the caliper was over the notch for the pad to lock onto, and the piston was pressing on the back of the pads little connectors, so it was just slapped in and could possibly just fall off, which it did when we removed the caliper it just fell right off, again it was never attached, we both couldn't believe the incompetence of this i mean hell my life could have been endangered by this, and even using old pads is beyond both of us so mini may find out about this one!!!!!!!!!!!<<

4GAZM,

Despite this being the longest sentence in the history of NAM

Edit: Apologies to SCCA and Red. 4GAZM's typographical errors were corrected by moi, therefore rendering your comments above nonsensical!

if you ask me bmw is in a world of hurt. the 7 series is a lemmon and now the mini is a car that they are not sure if they want the new custormer base. they have had this same type of problem on many items. i know that one dealer will work on your car and another dealer will tell you there is not a problem. i have seen this myself. so i think right now if you have anything done at bmw be careful it might not be as good of work as you might expect.

 First of all, the is the most horrible story I have heard yet about service at ANY MINI dealership!!! I would be running this way up the ladder....I would first take pictures to have proof of what was done...then I would send the pictures along with a very nasty letter to the Manager of the dealership, and send them to the Big Kahuna at MINIUSA...

This is totally unacceptable and I would NOT sit back and let this rest.....

Wow, that's terrible. I can't believe that type of service was performed there. Man, I would take that to the top.

i would document the work. take lots of pictures and have ryephile witnessed the work, then take it back to the dealership and demand they fix it for free and refund some of your money. then call miniusa and report the sloppy work with your pics.

i am sure the dealer will rebuff your acussation since you took apart the brake but let them know you have a witness and pics.

it is sad but you have to arm and protect yourself. good luck and let us know what happen..

Wow, that really is bad! Bad service really pi$$es me off but to lie and knowingly cause a safety issue is over the line. Document it, take pictures, write letters and get a lawyer involved if necessary. Don't sit on this.

To be honest, the biggest reservation I have about getting my new MINI (I'm currently saving up for a summer '04 purchase) is the service/cost after the 50k warranty is gone. I drive about 20k a year so it'll only take me 2-3 years to hit that mark.

sid,

don't worrie, we'll talk care of you.

i was in the dealer yesterday for a bunch of problems, and for the life of me i can not remember a line he gave me for one of the problems i was having, but it actually made me laugh out loud and he had ro stop talking because i was not listening anymore to him. i know two of the four problems they can fix, but the other two i do not think they will fix or even be able to correctly. so i'll fix it myself.

oh sh$%, I get my car in a few weeks. I was hoping to avoid repeat angst as I have previously expierenced at Oldsmobile and Chevrolet dealer. I have come to the conclusion that all car dealers service departments in the Detroit area is foooking bad. So far my dad has come from Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Ford, Nissan and now MINI dealers...

flipside is, tho, I visit Cleveland from time to time for family stuff... So... Maybe I'll just make an extra trip

I want to know where the reply is from the MINI Division automaton on this one. Definitely don't let this one slide, regardless of whether you're trying to get a job there. This is willful disregard for your safety, besides being dishonest and disrepectful. You've got a lot more restraint than me if you're not already making their life miserable.

I make up for it by throwing usage to the wind, and taking severe grammatical liberties from time to time.
