I found a great use for SUV's and Vans. In traffic, if you pull up behind them, you can admire your MINI in the reflection off their "tails". Of course this only works when your behind a somewhat clean one. The only problem is, I am sometime caught daydreaming at a light looking at my own car

Need help...

LOL! Toast I thought I was the only one who did that!! I've been caught daydreaming looking at my own car at many a stoplight! I had a great experience once stopped at a light next to a storefront with a big glass window. Ahhhh...what a lovely profile to admire!

Why all the SUV bashing? I love my MCS but I also own a Durango which I love also for different reasons, its comfortable, practical and fun. I bought a MCS because it is also a fun, performance vehcile that was different. I'm not a 60's hippie wanna be and I didn't buy it to make some semi-political statement about SUV's.

What does using a large vehicle for it's reflective properties have to do with bashing?

HIPPIE!

Speaking of cowboy hats, try this for a mental image. I have an assigned parking space where I work. I'll get my MC in hopefully 2-3 weeks. The space next to me is assigned to a 'wanna be' cowboy who drives a Ford F250 with about the biggest street legal tires made. It has the 'king cab' (not sure if it's still called that, but it has a back seat). then the bed has a camper on it. It is a BIG UGLY monster of a truck. And it's gonna be next to my innocent little MINI everyday. Think I should ask for a new parking space????

Heck no... if you park it close enough, it'll keep your MINI in the shade!

Yay! Shade for MINIs!

Two comments to this post.

1. I, too tend to like to watch my car in the back of SUVs, or the sides of minivans as I pass them. Another good use for SUVs is for drafting purposes, get behind a Grand Cherokee (they ALWAYS seem to be hauling a**, anyone ever notice that?) and just kind sit there, letting it puuuuull you along, hurting his horrible mileage and adding to your already insanely good mileage.

2. Regarding parking. So, call me a moron, but am I the only one who has trouble parking their MINI? I can park our F350 Dually Long Bed Crew Cab just fine, parked my old Beetle flawlessly... all our cars but the MINI, it just won't park straight! Maybe I'm just odd.

Ah well.

Ciao.

I don't hate SUV's or anything, it's just that I think they are so underutilized. People use them to commute :???: Strikes me as being very wasteful. I don't own a SUV for the same reason I don't air condition my house - for the couple of days a year I need it, it's just not worth it (I live near Buffalo and no, it's not snowing now). With this global warming thing happening, I'm going to need an air conditioner before I'll need an SUV.

Besides, (you know what) them if they can't take a joke - it's all in good fun! Once the novelty wears off of the MC and everyone has them, I'm sure we'll get ours.

This has given me a good laugh this morning. Enjoyed all the comments. I do feel like I am so cool when driving my Mini.

Comment on SUVs - SOME SUVs owners have them because they would not be caught dead in a station wagon or Mini Van is my observation.

I figure a lot of people buy because of 0% financing deals. The car companies can afford that with the 40-50% profit margins on SUVs. We have an ECHO and a MINI. What more do you need?

Well, how many MINI owners are looking to get an SUV when their lease is up, and how many SUV owners are looking into a MINI? But my problem with SUVs is for the most part, the people driving them, shouldn't be. I firmly believe that we should have a graduated licensing system for passenger vehicle. They do for commercial licenses, and in some other countries (I know of Japan for one) have graduated licenses for 2 wheelers... And this is from someone who has drove a van (not mine, drove it once and a while for where I worked), down to, well, a MINI... and it's harder to drive a larger vehicle then a smaller one... and unfortunately, some people drive their SUV's like a K-Car...

Typical leftists comment, can't use logic and critical thinking so you resort to put downs and name calling. Let me guess, you voted for clinton twice right?

Another good use for SUVs would be to drain all fluids, steam clean and dump in the ocean to create an artificial reef and some SUV drivers could be bait. Notice I said some......
