Service Engine Soon... yay!

Recently I had my one ball mod done, and my pulley mod done. Since roughly about that time, I've had my Service Engine Soon light on and off, depending on the luck of the draw when I start my engine.

Here are my concerns:

1. Could it be from the exhaust, or no because it's too far back to have been caught by a sensor.
2. While I wouldn't normally consider the pulley mod as the culprit, it wasn't an easy install for my local shop. Apparently I have a newer style crank thingie, and that meant it needed to be taken off before they could get to the pulley, making the install a lot harder. My concern is that maybe a hose wasn't put on right or something in the engine bay.

Hopefully luck will be on my side and it will only be an O2 sensor or something. Any thoughts of what this could be? Btw, I already checked.. it's not the gas cap. It's on correctly.

Take the O2 sensor off and wipe it with a rag. Don't use any cleaner, just a dry clean rag, preferably a microfiber one. Could be just a little bit of crud is on the sensor.

Resetting the ECU could help, if that wasn't done already.

If you don't have a code reader take it to a local auto parts store (AutoZone, etc) and ask them to read the codes. They will not clear the code but you will have more info to work with.

Recently had a new OEM Exhaust System put on our 2003 Mini. Service Engine light came on. Reset ECU & ended up replacing rear O2 sensor. Problem solved.

The one ball mod is basically a cheap way to 1. get a a deeper, slightly louder sound, 2. weight reduction 3. believe it or not, you can feel some more power.

here's a link for a diagram of what is performed to do the mod, http://reviews.carreview.com/blog/mi...haust-upgrade/

I did my oneball mod in my garage, just cut and rewelded, easy to do. most auto shops can do this in an hour If you show them a diagram of what your talking about, and will charge $20.00-100.00.
