R50/53 No problems
I see some people complaining about their problems with their cars, however, fortunately I have had no problems. I was just wondering what percentage of the cars really have problems. I know we all complain when we have a problem, however, are not as quick to say, "Hey, no poblems here". Just a thought.

Other than one leaky coolant bottle 5 months ago and one recall for suspension bolts that got fixed in the first week of the recall I have had zero problems with my MCS. No stumble, no yo-yo, I can't even get it to ever happen even with trying for many months. Everything runs really well.
I think that for most MCS owners the problems have been few. A few MINIs do not do well. Everything is relative.
Look at the general numbers in my area. 660 MINIs sold since the start. Maybe 150 or more are shipped out of this area. So that leaves at least 400-500 MINIs driving around with one dealer to go to. Over half are MC and most with CVT. Less than 10% of us do mods so mostly stock MINIs. In our MINI club we have maybe 20. Maybe 4 or 5 have had trouble. On NAM we have about 30-35 members and about 5 have had trouble that I know about.
I hope your good luck keeps up. My MINI is the MOST trouble free car I have ever owned- even better than my former champ a 1982 Honda Civic 4 door sedan- great car.

At 33k, I'd say I've had no major problems:
- Coolant bottle replaced.
- Squeeks and rattles removed.
- Boot latch replaced.
Runs like new, looks like new and the bottles of Bass Ale open quite easily on the driver's door latch! I'm a happy MINI owner!
God speed.

Well, I am almost afraid to say it, but this is the most trouble free car that i have ever bought!! Only 2,600 miles so far on an '04. Usually by now (on 15 or so new cars) i have been back to the dealer at least twice. This car is GREAT!
14000 miles, no real problems. A couple of rattles that come and go, a couple of times the tire pressure light and DSC indicator stayed on, restarted car, went away, coolant bottle started seeping, had it replaced when I had the JCW kit put on, no problems in the 2000 miles since then. I would call it trouble-free---none of this stuff has prevented me from driving it every day. It's only been at the dealer's for the maintenance and the JCW kit install.....love this car. I would drive it across country AGAIN in a heartbeat....Bruce

What is this, are you a statistician by asking what percentage of people have had problems? 100% of the people that have had problems have had them. The other people who haven’t had problems make up 100% also.

For the first couple on weeks I was in the 100% who had no problems. Then I got a coolant leak and became one of the 100% who have problems.
Just kidding.
I'd guess the incidents of serious problems are low, but if you have NO problems you're probably either lucky or your threshold for calling something a problem is higher that others.

Owning my MCS for over a year I do fall in the 100% that have had no problems.
3500 miles in my 2004 MCS, and still 100% troublefree and body is tight as a drum! Not a rattle or buzz anywhere. I hope it stays this way. I don't have a reason to drop car off at Mini service department. I understand some of the early 2002 Coopers had some "teething" problems. BMW has solved many of them with ongoing quality changes/updates. I am glad I waited until recently to buy one.
Here are before and after photos of my brake light modification. Much safer with two brake lights when I hit my brakes !!!!!!!!!

The last time I looked I did not see a Lexus IS 300 for $20,000 base price. Where I live the IS 300 is super common, the MCS is rare (I can almost keep track of each one in my area). The other common trouble free car at 6 out of 7 homes on my block is the Camry. I'd get a second MINI before I'd get a Camry.

Don't wait too long. They might sell out!

No, I was just wondering because I know that people with problems will come on here, and elsewhere, and complain and it makes it sound like every MINI has tons of problems and I'm sure that's not the case. I just feel that if someone looks here before buying he/she may be wondering if they should buy or not.
I understand what you are saying, if you have problems you have them and it is not good. I had a 90 T-bird that was so bad everytime I picked the car up the service writer would say, "Here are your keys. See you in a week or two." I also had a new Volvo S-80 T6 that was so bad they flew people in from NJ to take a look at it. So I know what problems are and I feel bad for people that have them.

After years of European cars ownership, I've jump ship to Japanese autos when I was married. Now I have 3 cars that are all Japanese and indeed, have been totally trouble free. I'll be taking delivery of MCS in January. Hopfully I'll still be able to say that all my cars are touble free.
My previous ownership with British cars was a mixed experience. The Jaguar had some problems with quality, but excellent service. Land Rover Discovery was pretty much trouble free. The Range Rover was fine until high milage. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the MINI!

Thanks for your post of confidence! I almost withdrew my order after reading all the problems people are experiencing.
