I just got an 03 MC

So today I traveled 5 hours to get my MC! My dad drove her all the way back to Missouri and it was my turn to drive Blueberry I was so excited but everytime I turned the steering wheel it seemed tight...and my sister said the same thing, and my mom or dad didnt say anything about it. I test drove a couple of Minis before and they were pretty maneuverable. I am wondering if something is wrong with the power steering or what. If someone could give me some answers that would be awesome...Thanks!

Power Steering pumps commonly go out, so you could have that. Also double check the tire pressure low tire pressure can make it harder too.
But I've seen P/S pumps be weak that can cause it to be a little harder, if that's the case I'd wait till it flat out quits.

What year were the ones you test drove? The earlier 1st gen MINIs had different power steering units that made more noise, and were a little heavier to turn. Not sure when they switched, but the '06 I drove once had really quiet power steering that seemed very light.

I have test driven a 2005 and 2006. Yeah I notice that it does a funky noise when you turn it...I am guessing that is normal for an 03?

@minirooferS: Yes my car only 12,600 miles now

The electric whine is normal because these cars' power steering pump is driven by an electric motor instead of being powered by the engine via a pulley.

As I mentioned, the earlier cars' ps will be noisier than the later ones.
