I have used solely premium gas for a very long time.. usually 92 or 93 if available. I just filled up my tank with regular just to see how the car would react and I'm getting better mpg... I'm probably just going crazy though.

CRAZY IN LOVE

Agreed.

This topic has been discussed to the point of nauseam. But in the interest of those who have not been here before, threads are now merged.

Thanks,
Dave.

ITS SAYS RIGHT IN THE BOOK. "91 OCTANE OR HIGHER ONLY"

if you use lesser you can do damage to your motor

hell, my mini has a sticker on there gas door that says it
and besides i get 450 miles on a fillup so who cares about the price of what goes in it, you'll make less stops

In the Vegas heat, I find that 92 octane works best for me in the summer time.

Like Way for WayMotorWorks said....he has swapped a few motors, and the ones that used low octane looked pretty bad....It does have an effect....eventually you may need a head, piston, valves.....89 is pretty close to 91...the anti knock sensor can most likely retard the timing enough to be OK for the near team....but 87...Coommmmonnnnn!! Don't go there!! A bit out of spec...the engineers must set some wiggle room....but 87 to 91....might as well run disel, and see what happens!!
I hate to say what has been said a million times, but I don't want a newbie to blow up a motor and have a $5000 bill because thy thought it was OK....
What amazes me is people all believe that MINI says use synthetic oil...most everybody does....with little debate. Why the debate here? If you believe them on one, why not the other?!

Yes, it's just easier (and quicker) for me to pick-out and read-back what I've written (at age 50 I'll take whatever 'ease-of-use' I can get).

I usually check-back later to see if the words I posted are actually the thoughts that I was trying to convey.

I actually don't believe I've ever changed the size of the font, but yes I do tend to embolden it.

If I had my way we would all have different colored and more personalized (styled) font.

I "try" to only do this on threads that I've actually started.

Hopefully it doesn't cause anyone any problems.
