R50/53 MCS Strut Identification/general Question
MCS Strut Identification/general Question
Hello,
I'm looking to purchase some new(er) struts for my '04 MCS.
The owner says that he definitely got them in '06 (so they aren't from an R52) but he doesn't know what model they came from (S vs Non-S model). Does this matter for my application?
If it makes any difference, they are stock Delphi struts [/FONT]with this # stamped on them:
Delphi RQ2 22191212
Delphi LQ2 22191213
I'm sill waiting to hear back on if an 11 digit part number is stamped on them.

You can also verify with http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do
What I do know is that for each suspension system they make 3 versions (soft, medium, & hard) of springs for it, depending on what options (weight based) your car has, you get a specific spring (rate). But realoem will only give Part Number, its usually on a white sticker. Sport or Non-Sport really only matters to the owner/driver and what you prefer a softer non-sport or a stiffer sport suspension. And the same goes for the spring, for example when my JCW suspension goes I am borrowing a VIN number to get the hardest spring rate, despite having the lightest oem R53.

Thanks for the info. That OEM parts website is a godsend.
I called up my local BMW dealer's parts department and spoke to them about the struts. They seem to match up just fine with an S series car, so I'm hoping that the numbers don't lie!
