OEM NAV

I know a salvage place who is selling a OEM 2005 NAV.
Is it possible to install this to my 2005 S ?

Is there a complexity installing NAV to non-NAV car?

Beats me with the mini - in other vehicles I've done this with it's a simple plug and play operation. (specially same year and such)

Do you mind me ask'n how much they are looking for it? I was think'n about do'n something like this in the near future and don't know what I"m getting into for cost.

I saw between $200 - $400 - $500 with on board computer.
I don't know if I need the "on board computer", probably cheaper without it.

I just want the OEM for tidy reason.

It is possible to do but fairly difficult. Members chris.lamb and Randall Raines on MINI2 have done it. Read their posts over there.

Wow! i read the whole thing and I'm already discouraged!

I wish the NAV screen and the DVD has its own plug to connect to
the Mini wiring loom. Aka plug and play.

So, if I will ask the dealer to fit a OEM NAV, they will probably refuse
due to the wiring loom that was different when you order the car without NAV system?

That's s*cks if the wiring harness don't have ready plug for NAV.

A dealer would want to order a new harne$$. But I think most will refuse because there are no official MINI retrofit instructions to follow, and they may lack confidence about pulling it off successfully. In any case, the many hours of labor will be very expensive unless you can most of the work yourself.

Hi, I would be interested in the computer if its a DVD based unit to upgrade my CD based unit. If you don't get it, can you help me get a hold of the yard that has it?

i was looking to get that part too, without the comp. 449 is a bit steep for that. and it does not work fully without the dvd/cd drive. mini wants that same price. if your willing to pay that, just get the new piece -_-.. you could also sign up for bmwcca and get 15-20% of parts, and get it cheaper at mini.

no matter tho, my friend is getting the chrono gauge, and dumping his sat nav stuff.... right into my hands. now he just has to quit being cheap, and get the gauge already so i can start on my car pc project.
