R50/53 Mod Opinions
Mod Opinions
So, I recently had a hay day at the 50% off sale at alta performance. I was originally planning on doing the mods to my 04 mcs over a longer period of time, but the opportunity was simply too great to resist. I still plan on doing a dyno before installing anything as I am fairly new to the car modding business (and will have some of my car savvy friends help with installation). I was hoping to get some opinions on the stuff I got or if people feel I missed out on some stuff that I should also think about getting in the short/long run. Here is a list of what I got:
-Alta 15% reduced pulley
-Brisk Silver Spark plugs + Magnacore wires
-Alta stealth catback exhaust
-Alta CAI 2.0
-22mm Rear sway bar
I got all of it for around $900 which I thought was a decent price. I won't have the option to slurge again like that for a while, but tips or thoughts on what I should think about next or just thoughts on this purchase would be appreciated!

i am new to the mini crowd too but form what i have been reading that seems like a decent price to me.
for the more experienced would a flash tune help this guy out more?
this is the same setup i would want to go with in a future mini of mine.

This is pretty close the extent of the mods on my car now. I do have a shortened belt to drive the accessories also as the smaller pulley also reduces the length of belt needed. But this is not a definite requirement at 15% reduction.
The mods never actually end after you've disrupted the balance that comes out of the factory. I would consider getting better brakes next. Either the JCW kit or any of the aftermarket big brake kits.
After that, maybe further stiffening of the suspension.
An inexpensive "insurance" policy might be strut tower reinforcement plates.
