Thinking about selling my MINI.

Here is the deal, I love my MINI. I have done a few mods to it. Wheels, DDM CAI, header, exhaust, 15% pulley, Newman cam, 550cc injectors, Mynes custom tune and cold plugs.

Here is the problem, I can't seem to lay off the gas pedal. The car is a screamer! It hauls *** and I love it. I've had quite a few close calls with the highway patrol. I like to pace other cars, although I have only raced once, a Jetta 2.0 FSI turbo (he was embarrassed), it seems that I am very weak when I have to resist the temptation for racing.

That is the reason I am thinking about selling my MINI and maybe get a Mercedes ML350 or ML500. I am 38 and I think I am a little too old for what is happening.

I wonder if I am the only one with this problem.

What should I do?

Get two cars. Use your MINI as a weekend car.

What numbers are you putting down if you don't mind me asking? I'm planning on getting similar mods to yours and I want to know what I'm shooting for.

Take your MINI out to the track & run it where it is safe to do so. Once you have, you most likely won't feel the need to race on the road.

The irony of it all is that every time I look for a car that I would like to buy. I always look at the option of buying one of my dream cars. I have a thing for small V8 engines or the BMW V10. The sound is amazing!
  1. Maserati Quattroporte (reasonable $ if used but horrible reliability I hear)
  2. Aston Martin V8 Vantage
  3. Ferrari 360 (my dream car)
  4. BMW M6
  5. BMW M3
All are fast cars and with the exception of the Aston and the 360 I have no problem affording such cars. I am scared to death about the maintenance on the 360.

If I want to stay away from any kind of "legal problems" perhaps I should buy something more like a soccer mom mobile.

I need Saint Flash Light to enlighten me!

Stay away from the Quattroporte they're not very reliable at all, unless you want it at the dealer most of the time I wouldn't get one

Are you looking at a E90/92 M3? I can tell you first hand they're great cars, pair it up with a RPI exhaust and you're golden!

Don't ask how I know lets just say E92 on Volk TE37 and RPI exhaust and Vorsteiner CF bits

I like the E92. I wish it sounded as good as the Maserati. The sound is beautiful! The Maserati is a very good looking car inside and out. Reliability is horrendous!

Wait wait wait... So let me get this straight... The 1.6L Mini is TOO tempting. So now you are considering a BMW M3 with over double the power?

...Oh that will help your situation for sure.

But if you are in the market for a new car, don't buy a Mercedes. Especially an ML.

If you like the small size of the mini, what about a 135i? Its got the old M3 Inline 6 cylinder engine. Or how about a Smart car. hahhaa
Just stick with anything BMW.

That is the main problem. I want to avoid the temptation but I only like fast cars. The cars listed above are the ones I like but no necessarily what makes sense.

If you must go with the SUV, get an X5 instead of the ML...stay in the family and still have some fun driving!

MiniNuike... tsk tsk, I should slap u lol
take it from a guy with a compulsive car buying issue. I traded in my mcs for a nice lil g35 infinity coupe, and regretted it within 2-3 days. I've had 3 minis.. everytime I sold it, and got into another car, I would slap myself and be like.. what have I done.. then I did it again.. and sameeeee thing.. "what have I done".. and now.. I finally got rid of that stupid g35.. and im back in a mini.. and I am loving it.. for me.. selling the mini, just make me realize that, the mini is the car, that im suppose to be in. it's quite odd. its purdy much the same as girls.. man.. no wonder I can't settle down! lol but anyhow.. im 28.. I feeel like im freaking old.. and the mini keeps me young. Im just saying.. you can never be too old for a mini cooper. oh and about your speed problem... (I had the same issue) if you're important.. they'll wait
