Other people who have driven my car have chirped it and I have maybe a couple times but it's very rare. I do take it to redline sometimes, I dont bang up the transmission, but I don't shift slow at all either or burn the clutch in the process. This is my first stick-shift car, so is this a (good) sign that I am being "smooth"? Quite frankly I dont feel fast when tires slip and the time my car can do that easiest is high revs in 1st on a very cold and/or rough surface going. Just wanna know how others drive b/c I know even when th car just has an intake (or even stock) it can be chirped, but I guess I don't .

 

I think the ASC or DSC are doing their job. Turn them off and see if you can still "Chirp" the wheels.

 

Oh yeah, forgot to mention about that. It has become just a natural act turning DSC off, especially if I am driving hard, so they are not getting in the way of anything, for those times it does activate on the street, it is way annoying.

 

How could you not chirp with your mods.

And why do people spend the extra dollars on the DSC if they always turn it off, or do you actually leave it on sometimes?

 

I can some times chirp on my base mini cooper And my tires arent even bald! I still want to get a MCS though:( to much money for me

Well obviously I can but I don't, that's what it's about. The car is DAMN fast don't get me wrong.

The times I leave on the DSC is when I'm exploring a new canyon road, driving in the wet and driving a known canyon road very fast but feel i'm not getting "in the zone." That pretty much sums it up.

 

try shifting at like 6750-6800rpm, but shift very fast and pop out the clutch. orrrrr powershift by not even taking your foot off the gas when shifting, and ofcourse pop out the clutch again...i can chirp 2nd when ever I want, and sometimes if im at the right rpm in 1st i can floor it and chirp first going ~20mphs or so....

Really? I tried that and i cant get the car to do that.... what RPM? doesnt matter.. u said 20mph in first? ok me try me try...

 

Well, I have a JCW MCS, but it shouldn't be too different then some of the modded MCS's. The first time I turned the DSC off and really gave it a good run I was AMAZED .

More power is good!!!!

 

with my DSC turned off (I didn't order this option, I bought the car used), I can smoke the tires throughout first gear and the car leaps into second with a loud screech -- not a chirp... mind you I've only done this a couple of times 'cause I don't want to wear out the tires or attract attention from the local men in blue.

I ordered the DCS since I will motor through a New England winter and use it as a daily driver with trips North to ski.

Also as an appeasement to give my wife more confidence.

I usually keep it inactive but have found it usefull a few times in the heavy fall rains and wet leaves.

Had also used it with the heavy accumulations of sand from winter past on the twisties I seek out.
