what fluid to use in a 5 speed transmission manual

I had to fix my backup light the other day and noted the transmission oil (2002 5speed) looked really grey and kind of soupy. I want to change it but I'm not sure what to use. I've been all over the site trying to figure out what to replace it with, Seems that I need Redline MTF?

IS this the stuff of should I keep reading??

Redline MTL

Edit:Sorry meant MTL NOT MTF.

I think I confused ATF with MTL and got MTF.

Redline MTL is good for the 5 speed.
Not sure what MTF is.

Yea thats what I meant! MTL. Anyway they make/carry 5 different transmission fluids
I think the one I need is MTL 70W80 GL-4 Gear Oil
it says for "late model Minis" is 2002 a late model???

Here is there products page:
http://www.redlineoil.com/Products.aspx?pcid=7

Also just called the Mini parts dept by me and they want $30.00 per liter for the MTF94. I'm so confused right now I might just pay it.
I'm also getting really pissed as I've be driving for over 20 years and have never had this much trouble finding frigging oil!!!
Thanks for all the help. MUCH needed & appreciated at this point.

Well, it's not a classic, so yeah.

Don't pay that, just go with the Redline MTL.

Get the MTL. It works great and is much less expensive.
I have been using Redline fluids for years and never had any problems or even seen much but good about them.
You could go with MT90 if you live in a really hot area but otherwise MTL.

The Redline MTL is great. I changed my "lifetime fluid" in my new 2009 MCS Convertible to Redline MTL at 2,000 miles. My 6 speed shifted well before but is noticably better with the Redline MTL. The synchrnos love it and the shifts are even smoother. Redline is commonly used in racing. I plan to drain and replace every 30,000 miles. Redline is a fraction of the cost of the MINI fluid.
