R50/53 So Did I Miss Something?
I've seen a dark silver MINI that is darker than my dark silver. Now I've seen two. When did MINI change the formula for the Dark Silver paint jobs? I actually like the newer one then my current one.
I've noticed most of the MINI colors aren't identical from car to car. My 1st MINI's Indi Blue was a bit darker than all others I've seen. A buddy of mine has a MY02 that is a lighter shade Dark Silver than most others, just like yours. I've seen about 3 different shades of Velvet Red too.

I hope you are not correct as the actual color of each car needs to be pretty close if we can expect any sort of color match when doing aerokit additions or wheel well painting and such or heaven forbid get into a fender bender and need a paint job.
I guess a painting specialist would know how much true variation there can be from the factory mix settings for a given color.
Perhaps it is the light source daylight vs indoor flourescent that makes your eye think that the colors are not quite the same. I know that with my Honda Odyssey if we look at it in the day the color is very different than at night with other light sources.

hmm, I know the parking lot where I see one of them all the time. I'll park next to it and check it out in the light. The other waves at me as we drive different directions going to the office. I'm interested in knowing now.
Velvet Red can look purplish, brownish, deep Merlot reddish, Hershey-bar-wrapperish or eggplantish, depending on the light. It's all the same color, it just plays your eye differently in different light conditions.
minihune - Do not expect a color match if you have body damage! There's a thread here Body shop Trouble. Seems the guys in the body shop use what they are told and it doesn't match the car they are working on. Then they scratch their heads wondering 'what the heck happened here' !
That's why in the Virtual Tour of the paint shop they show the Coopers with their gas caps hung by a wire in the driver's window. That's to be sure your Indy Blue car matches it's Indy Blue gas cap. Seems it is different from car to car!!!
