First of all you will need a special tool thats hard to find, its called: Bankroll
If you have it already the you can begin your quest for power. Although, you probably need a reduced pulley and intake as a prereq. RMW is the most common and cheapest (relative term) via: Head, Cams, Header, Exhaust, Injectors and custom dyno tune.
See this thread:https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/drivetrain-cooper-s/174320-new-rmw-power-numbers-277hp.html and: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/drivetrain-cooper-s/140234-revolution-mini-works-goes-291-7whp.html
And this one: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-291-7whp.html
Beyond that, you can go to a 1.8L or 2.0 or even a Rotrex S/C. I see in another post you asked about the twurbo, they have put down 337hp I think, but be prepared with your scangauge and laptop, cause if you look for old threads here on NAM they were plauged by codes thus limp mode. There are also Nitous kits for MINI: Venom/M7, but also same deal as above, think a few peolpe did the tweaks to make it work. But generally, most just don't work consistently. If you got a trailer, to take your car to/and/from events and have extensive knowledge on engine management tuning system it is a very viable option, but if its a daily driver or weekend car, it will end up as a drive way queen. Or if you have a daily driver and weekend car then go for it, it will be the "ongoing project car", but sure will be a blast the momments it does go. There's also turbo options by mines and abf, but don't know much about'em, they're kinda new. Although I've always been from the school of thought that you begin with suspension mods first before power. That said, I would say the very best way to make your car faster is to attend several HPDEs (High Performance Driver Education) at your local track/road course and its only between $200-$500 depending on sanctioning body. In other words, as the saying goes, "to go faster, tighten up [the skills] the nut behind the wheel."
Hope that helps, but read up on threads make your own decision. But pulley, intake, cams, exhaust, and larger injectors are but cheap to start with and won't be irelevant as you build more power either s/c, twurbo or turbo.
