R50/53 OBD reader - help
OBD reader - help
Earlier today I saw a post from someone, advising he had bought an inexpensive OBDII scan tool from Costco. I can't find the post, and my Costco had no idea what I was talking about. Help anyone? SKU? TIA.
Here's one at Sams for 44 bucks

maybe that will help you find the one at Costco

Yup, and you should be able to buy one at almost any pep boys, advance auto parts or autozone. Walmart carries them (99.00) so the supply is endless.
My suggestion is if you are going to spend 50 bucks for just a reader (and can't actually clear codes) then spend the extra 25-50 bucks and get one that will at least clear some codes.
My .02 and worth every penny.

In this same vein...
What is the most popular reader/code clearer in use by you Gen1 MINI owners? We're the proud new owners of a 2004 MCS with high miles and light mods (but lovingly cared for) and I expect to need an OBDII scanner in short order.
I anyone using scantool.net's ElmScan5 (or similar) or the ScanGaugeII successfully? I'd like the tool to integrate into a CarPC if possible (a feature of the ElmScan5).
Thanks in advance!
