R50/53 The everything was OK today thread.
I just took our 09 Justa (39K miles) to get oil for our daughter's 05 Justa (98K miles). We change both cars every 5k miles whether they need it or not.
No issues with either, although the 09 may need a bath today.
...and while we're at it, thanks to Garrett and the rest of the crew at Mini Orlando for making sure that life continues to be boring and wonderful.

Had a fairly easy CV axle replacement on both side of my MINI and replace the sway bars with little to no problem! Identified and fixed the noise in my wheel well!
DRIVES AMAZINGLY AGAIN! Today was a GREAT day!

Made a favorable impression!
I've owned the car for a few weeks now but have pretty much just done the daily commute. Friday I had to make a 200 mile round trip jaunt alone and then yesterday my wife and I made another 200 mile round trip and did the return pretty well loaqded down w/ groceries and a granddaughter's birthday gifts. I'm happy to report that the slightly skeptical wife was very impressed w/ the quiet, the comfort, the room, and, especially, the gas mileage. We've gotten the official seal of approval and she's even started suggesting the purchase of a bra and other items to keep it looking great. Success!
After a year and a half of frequent, costly repairs and upkeep, I'm happy to report that my 2003 R50 has been working flawlessly for the last 15,000 miles or-so. (from 75k to 90k mi).
The longer it stays out of the shop, the more the cost-for-repairs-per-month drops from its high of $361/mo. ---I spent $6,500 in reairs (not counting normal wear parts like tires, oil and filters, etc) in the first 18 months (45k miles to about 85k mi).
Now at 25 months of ownership, the repairs evened out over that time are down to $260/mo.
It has been nice to get a few months of reliability out of it. (knock on wood)

i have owned mine for about 2 years, the car just have 37k when i got it, today is arround 47k , somo problems i got in this time was the bearing of the a/c clutch, both windows regulators, thermostat housing, and the belt(this have been the only failure that took me by suprise), further than that is a great relaible car, i happy whit it, love my mini.
After 2 weeks without my Coop, I finally got it back last night. How I've missed you!!!! Had a starter go bad on me @ 41K miles. But can't be too upset with that now that I have it back........ Turn the key, and my R53's heart begins to beat once more! Thank god....
Happy Original Owner
I love my '04 MCS. Back in June I did a 2000 mile round trip with no problems what so ever. Averaged 31-33 mpg. Carried a can of fix-a-flat and a qt of oil just in case. And several times a year I'll drive 1000 in a weekend. My MINI is just over 108000 miles now. Original clutch. I still smile every time I get behind the wheel. Just getting ready to change the oil and rotate the tire this evening.
Mine is about due for its first oil change during my ownership. It sits at just over 18,200 miles and I bought it near 13k and did one then. Zero problems in 11 months of ownership. Intake, pulley and colder plugs done with the result being more smiling.
I'm coming up on a year and IIRC the manual states a year as the time table if you haven't hit the 10/15k mark. It sounds like it is due for one too. Maybe I'm crazy from dealing with my s2000, but I feel like I hear the valves chattering more when it's time to change the oil. Lol
Put 30K on the 2003 MCS I bought this spring already, only issue was a AC compressor and for a car that had 60K on it when I bought it not bad at all in my book as far as repairs. I am going to put a set of plugs in this weekend then it off for a 1200 mile week for work next week trying to wrap up projects all over the state before the holidays
I picked up a 2004 electric blue with black roof Mini Cooper S in October. The R53 had 77,000 miles when purchased. I had one issue where I blew a spark plug out and the car had to be repaired, but the dealership did a great job taking care of me. The R53 came with black aftermarket wheels and Falken Ziex 912 tires, a K&N Cold Air Intake Kit, the one ball exhaust mod and a 15% pulley upgrade.
The Cooper now has 81,000 as I am a design rep and drive daily for my company. The things I love about it: I'm 6'5" and fit in the car so comfortably! Supercharger whine! Getrag 6 Speed! Two Sunroofs! Heated Seats! Stick like glue handling! This little car is the most fun I have ever had on four wheels!
I plan on installing a Milltek catback exhaust, changing the torn shifter and ebrake boots, installing the carbon/leather JCW shift and ebrake *****, installing a GTA Car Kits iPod adapter and the list goes on and on.
Most importantly I plan on driving this little gem as much as I can!

Drove my 2006 S over two thousand miles last week. Oregon to L.A. and back all the way on the 101. Two days were spent almost entirely in torrential rain storms. Was doing 10 hour or so legs at a time. The car which I bought used in Nov. with 56K on the clock never missed a beat. Did not use a drop of oil, did not leak any rain water in, and handled the twisties of Nor Cal perfectly.
The only dud (aside from the spots of bumper to bumper traffic) was getting a speeding ticket on the way back around Humboldt. Will have to get a radar detector before taking that route again.

I finaly got the rear windshield wiper washer to working after searching the net for possible problems. There was a lot of gunk built up in it, I guess the previous owner just used water in the washer system as there was a lot of rusty looking crud in there.
Celebrating month six on the CVT replacement. I'm very happy.
After 4 oil pan gasket fixes in 2 1/2 years, there have been no oil drops, since the CPS was replaced, at that same time. 3 years of ownership and totally drip free, this past 6 months. I replaced air filter yesterday, got new Blackjack mirror covers on and I'm expecting Rimblades any day.
Quite a lot of repairs over the past three years of my ownership but I'm still in awe and love my little 2005 justa.
