85,000 kms

I bought my Justa almost a year ago with 63k kms and have enjoyed every minute. I'll look for any little excuse to take the car out for a ride, even if it's just up to the store.

I just turned 85k kms today and the car feels a little snappier off the line. Am I imagining it, or has the slight lag off the line from a dead stop disappeared?

Went to get my MINI de-salted today here in NY. Before it was washed, the GPS refused to work. Perhaps it was silently protesting, because it worked again when it was clean.

We got some snow on the Oregon coast today, and I was able to reconfirm how good of a car the R56s is in snow, and that's even with 'just' all-season tires (OEM Conti's)! Runs great, loads of fun! Still gotta be careful in part due to other drivers that don't know how to do snow (here on the coast), but it's still loads of fun. What a great car!

Fun Surprise

Driving home in the Tardis last night I found out that the car has headlight wash sprayers. Had no idea. Double tap the windshield spray/wash lever and voila headlight sprayed & cleaned. Must have done it 10 times running down I-75 chuckling. Lots of fun. Great car.

Funny thing about Mini's ... On my way home from Columbia, SC to Charleston. It was sunny and 74 on March 2 and did not take the Interstate. Instead motored on the two Lane old Charleston Highway. Took me 30 minutes longer, but oh man what a ride. Windows down, sunroof open, beautiful bride and a country road doing 65. This is why I love my R53. BTW 33 mpg and a whole Lot of fun. Thumbs up!

I've been going through all the major maintenance on my R53, aquired 2 months ago: motor and trans fluids, s/c maint, cooling system flush, pulley kit. Last week was its first (for me) hot weather test: 98 degrees in the nasty LA traffic, a/c on, and with an over-driven s/c. No temperature probs, not a misfire, code, or slightest complaint. Nice, cool and comfortable in the car. Awesome car!!

Great day for a drive

I'm in Maine and loving my recently purchased 05 Cooper S.

Just hit 100k this week and it seems awesome!

Fun to drive and a unique car!

I've already had the Power Steering Pump replaced under warranty. Only problem now is control arm bushings, but that will get fixed (Probably Powerflex Bushings). Not freaking out about it. Tire pressure sensor light is amber as well, but I don't care about those sensors anyway. I've been checking my own pressure for years.

I just purchased my first Mini last week, and I already put 400 miles on it. I am in love with the ride, look, and driving experience. Its a 2006 MCS R53 and it just hit 117,000 miles. I want to run this car into the ground and already plan on buying another one!

I have a little more than 75k miles on my '05 MCS. I live in a tough climate in Maine and drive my Mini pretty hard every day ...the way it was intended. I have been totally amazed by how tough this little car is. Its been one of the most reliable cars Ive owned (I currently have 7). WAY more reliable than my piece of crap Honda Odyssey appliance. WAY more reliable than ANY VW or Audi Ive owned (6). I fully expect to enjoy at least another 5 years hammering on my Cooper.

Every day is a great day in a Mini Cooper S.

The only problems I've ever had with my 05 Cooper S are due to the horrible Houston roads combined with the hard 17" no sidewall run flat tires. I spent quite a bit of money on repairs back in 08, then changed to softer 16" tires. Oh, and the bit of power steering fluid leakage that i've topped off twice, ever.

Now, my '05 car has been neglected for quite a while. I didn't put enough miles on to fulfill the extended maintenance agreement before the time wore out. But I still don't notice any problems.

Other than cosmetic. The headliner is starting to sag near the windshield. the front has some cracks & scrapes where it scrapes as you pull out of parking lots with dips. There's a piece of 'chrome' plastic missing near one headlight. And the driver seat doesn't slide forward when you tilt the seat. But I just found the thread on how to fix that.

Found spare key with fob for my Mini

Couldn't find my spare key for months. Finally found it by accident in a box in a draw. Saves me wasting $250 on a new one from the dealer.

2 weeks in full tank of verified 93 octane and fuel system cleaner through R53 and all is well, no more codes, even in the cold that has rolled into north east. Got to replace air filter in ProMini intake and change plugs but it's getting driven as intended...ever day for 65 to 200 miles a day and it hasn't stumbled yet...118500 on her with 25 mpg.

After a full winter of my passenger side window not rolling down, it now rolls down (and up) every time now that the temp is 80-95 degrees outside. The last "3-hit-above-the-speaker-fix" worked and has worked for 3 weeks now!

Today was pretty well organized. Some spirited driving, 50 miles off 90k. Got the front tires balanced just as a "just in case", and a little rough idle at some point but fantastic day anyway!
