So far, so good. Just picked up a new belt, drain plug, oil filter, synthetic oil, a new expansion tank, and some Red Line for a trans flush. Should be a decent weekend. Ohhh, and no lights on yet.

My car made it home from the dealer last night, and my commute in the morning without a problem after a 43 day, $7568 stay at the dealer.

Today I beat on it, abused it, stretched it's legs, and then in apology for the beating, took it for a wash. All sparkly now as well. Good little mini.

It even got new headlight bulbs on now as well as wheels and tires on the way. Treat your car right and it will treat you right.

Yet another great day in "Abe" 300 more miles of driving fun. Down to Mt. St. Helens into the Ape caves, Lava Canyon, and June Lake. So far this week the day trips have been great. 1000 miles this week alone. Loads of fun.

Had fun with the Tardis today. She's no F-150 (still miss that truck) but we got the tree to the recycler in style.

Bike rack + MINI = Christmas tree hauler with panache! No MINIs were harmed in the transport of this tree.

Best day my Coopa has had in awhile! Just got everything reassembled after rebuilding my Midland tranny. About 2 months of sitting on jacks stands and finally got about 100 miles on her. Ohhh we're so good.
It's almost the best day ever for Coopa.

Bought my mini a month ago yesterday! 2003 R50 with 160k miles. Everything has been "ok" since I got it except some minor things. Had a few headaches as I started doing some tunes ups, but now everything is GREAT!

-Had the initial learning curve about the oil filter cage. Got that figured out now!

-DO NOT LET JUST BRAKES WORK ON YOUR CAR! $470 rear brake service from them, and then $570 service from my local shop to finally find and fix what Just Brakes did wrong. (Your name is JUST BRAKES and you install my brakes improperly?) Basically, I ended up getting a new master cylinder, which probably wasn't a bad thing, when all that needed to be done was actually install the rear pads properly. Whatever, not mad at my shop, I'm mad at just brakes.

-Other services: Replaced valve cover gasket, fixed locks, rotated tires, drive belt replaced, CV boot replaced.

-In total, with the purchase price AND all the tune-up costs, I'm only $5200 into the car! And now it runs awesome! Couldn't be happier!

200,100 miles on my bone stock Pepper white baby. Left window starting to not want to go up or down, headliner coming loose, sunroof stopped working, BUT it still runs like a raped ape and doesn't burn any oil!

Swapped out upper motor mount back to a stock version. 40 minutes from walking in the garage to walking out. Not a single problem, super smooth.

Picked him up from the shop yesterday.

He got (at 160,700 miles) . . .

new drive belt
Oil & filter change
New Oil filter housing gasket & stand gasket
Coolant flush
Replaced P/S suction hose
Replaced driver front wheel speed sensor
Replaced front and rear brake pad sensors
4 wheel alignment

No more "trifecta" of warning lights!
Everything is OK!

Volunteered for an extra shift at work, was supposed to be off at 3, was given the chance for an extra 4 hours of overtime. Sun was down going in, sun was down coming out. But I made 12 hours of overtime, car ran fine going in, ran just as good coming out. Plus it was finally warm enough to drive with the windows down and the sunroof open since i bought the car a few months ago. So I'd have to say everything was OKAY today.

Still have piles of snow around the driveway as tall as the Mini but took the time in a 50° day to swap out the studded snows back to the RFs. Took it for a drive just to make shure I put all 4 on. Going in for shoulder replacement surgery in 2 weeks so trying to get stuff done while I can.

Windows down day here in New England. Beauty of a day...swerving around potholes, the occasional S turns, and on/off ramps. A good day to be in a CR/W R53

Oil change drama (sort of)

I have changed a lot of oil in my time. So when I thought I stripped the threads in the oil filter block, I was a little nervous. The replacement part is over $500 and they are backordered till June. Oh and I have a track event this weekend, so I really wanted to get the threads turning in the right direction

Anyway with a bit of coaxing, the oil filter did thread back in. But it was touch and go there for many minutes.

Now if only I can get my 6 year old power bleeder to not spew brake fluid all over everything in the garage once again....crap! it did it again. Time to get a new power bleeder!

So not specifically today but recent...

I was leaving a stores parking lot backing out and as i do i see this cute little toddler about 4 or 5 with her older sister about 8 or 9 and their mom walking towards me.

The 9 year old points at my car and yells "Mom, that's the car from Pixels! "

The smile on my face as I met her mom's eyes was contagious. She looked so embarrassed but i just waved as i drove by. Was a great moment.

But the REAL question is...was she a hot single mom?

Didnt stop and ask. BUT, she was driving a minivan... so signs point to no.

I believe you can judge a lot about a person by what they drive.
