R50/53 The everything was OK today thread.
Today I had to drive to a few railway stations, to check the advertisement-spaces we rent in and near those railway stations. I had a blast driving around, first with one colleague (to the east) and later with another (due west).
Drove way to hard, tested the grip on a few roundabouts (like this one) and made a colleague almost **** his pants in fear.
Everything was OK today!

lovin' the cold
Friday morning, the MINI took a spin at sunrise...outside temp -22!
Cold weather package, snow tires, heated seats make for fun times

Picked up my Electric Blue R53 on 12/22/10, with 90K miles. Love it!! Just love it! 1,800 miles later, this little gal / gal (haven't decided yet!) is running like a champ. It's an absolute beastie in the snow with its winter radials on a fours. Lot's of fun and the gas needle hardly moves - BEST OF ALL!!! No issues to report...
I just posted this on the Clubman thread, but it's worth noting here too...
In 2 years and just under 30K the only repair I've had done to my 2009 Clubman S is to replace the chain tensioner at 3K, since then - nothing!
My car consistantly gets between 28 (winter, city driving) and 34 mpg (summer, highway) just as the EPA and MINI said it would, uses no oil between my routine 7500 mile oil changes, and has had no other problems of any sort.

This has been another unusual winter for Nebraska, but my MINI takes it well. It has been a snow plow on some roads, but has never gotten stuck (tires: Nokian WRG2). I may need an alignment in the spring, but potholes happen to any car.
The "Unofficial MINI Cooper Owner's Manual" recommends not pulling all the way into the space
.
A couple of years ago had pulled into a space at a shopping center, SUV's either side - was making a quick cel call, and as I was sitting in the car had someone in a Kia-something SUV come wheeling into the space and slam on the brakes. Just touched the back fascia - lesson reinforced...

Everything was so OK that I got a ticket for illegal passing..... The truck was doing 60k in a 100k zone I passed him so fast I didn’t even get close to the spot where visibility is an issues.... OH well 2-4 points and probably 100 Euros.
03 MCSa 64.5K on the clock.......Got in, Started it right up, turned up the H/K Audio, rolled down the windows, headed to work, effortlessly turned the wheel, listened to the SC whine as I was working the clutch and running all 6 gears!!!!!!! Think that about covers it.
Everything is GREAT today!!!!

New Owner
Bought the car a month ago, put it up on stands, changed the clutch, popped a couple fuses, fixed what I broke, got it running beautiful and upgraded my cold air...
I love it, there's nothing better than working on my car for days at a time... Except working on it for days and then listening to it PURRR afterwards...
Everything is grand today.

Today the car ran great. The CEL is on for the fuel system pressurization issue (need a new pump thingy), the right mirror plastic is broken from winter, the antenna housing is busted from the carwash and the right rear wheel is out of balance.
Motor on!
Motor on!
Just picked up my 2007 mini with just under 16,000 miles
runs great, awsome drive
washed, waxed every painted surface and cleaned the entire interior
everything is shiny so that alone makes life good
I used to drive a 2003 gti vr6 until it was totalled :(
this mini handles like a dream compared to the gti
couldnt be happier with my mini and keeping my fingers crossed that all will go well in the future and motor on

It's my MINI's 9th birthday today. I went on a long drive to the MINI dealer in Omaha just for some excuse to go, then spent hours tooling around that city. This car seems to get faster and faster the more miles I put on.
Picked up my R53 (2002) from the repair shop yesterday. Had a new clutch, slave cylinder, and master cylinder put in. Today, I drove it around, and everything was A-ok. Still breaking in that clutch, but so far so good. To many more good days
Leaking heater hose
Found a little puddle of antifreeze on the carport floor. Leaking heater hose. Tried to take off the short hoses between the engine and the coupler. Of course I broke the plastic coupler. Then of course the hoses were REALLY bonded to the heater pipes at the firewall, so I had to cut them off. Bought all new stuff, just waiting for a few hours off from work to replace it. I have to drive the wife's car and I MISS MY MINI!!!
despite 19 degree weather and sitting outside all year around. she started up alright today and didn't blow up the tranny or burn to the ground. low standards but it's what i have to go by until i can afford to swap trannies
130K miles and motoring nicely. CVT works like it should everyday. All the doors and windows work nicely. A few rattles but those will be fixed this weekend. She needs nothing major but lower control arm bushings. Can't wait to take her to Florida in a few months for vacation.
