Cracked rear control arm Now with pics

The other day when I was about to jack up the rear of the car. I noticed something shiny on the control arm. After a harder look I seen it was cracked at one of the drilled holes after taking off the plastic cover the really damaged was obvious. The control arm is about to snap in half with only a solid 1/2 inch of metal still connected. Will have pictures tonight.

Car is lowered with H&r springs on 17" wheels. Haven't hit any curbs and no track days.

Welcome to the weak sauce rear control arms on the MCS...particularily on early models. I've replaced mine with TSW's adjustable rear control arms. Very beefy.

Yeah, replace all four with something for full alignment capabilities and the piece of mind of bomb proof strength (depending on brand of ctrl arms)

Good thing you noticed it sooner than later. I ALWAYS replace the rear control arms when we lower a car, usually use the Hsport control arms. Haven't broke one yet, and I know I've tried on the race car.

yep, went through this already, when i took mine off i leaned the good one up against the wall and applied little force with my foot n the thing caved. Really shady on minis part for ever having made those, but if ur lowered u need adjustable ones anyways because other wise ur toe and camber and what not cant be adjusted to be in spec.

Lol ok, The control arms are a pretty easy job to change. But the camber plates are something you defiantly want to do when you change the springs.

I'll be there till 10 or 11 if your back in town by then.
