Well, I dropped Nittany off last night for her first overnight away from home (aka visit to the service department). The plastic trim at the top of my windshield decided to come loose during some extended highway driving last weekend. I hope they get it on correctly this time. I've heard others complain of the same problem and was hoping I'd be one of the lucky ones to avoid it.

It's been almost 16 hours since I have seen my car. Why am I sweating? And my hands are shaking! Somebody help me! I've got..... MINI withdrawal.

Why am I laughing at this post?

Is the pain as great as the initial pain of waiting for the delivery?

Hope the repair works well. Who do you have doing it?

Deli, glad you got a chuckle.

I think the pain could be worse than waiting for delivery because now I'm used to driving it everyday so I miss it more.

Well, as much as I said I wouldn't do it, I took it to Princeton. I just couldn't bring myself to drive all the way up to Morristown or Mahwah for something as minor as a piece of trim.

So far I have to say they have been very good. They asked if there was anything else I wanted them to look at while they had it, and I told them I think the expansion tank for the coolant may be leaking a little (big surprise). I was also told they would briefly go over the car and check to see if there are any "updates" that need to be done.

They gave me a ride home last night after I dropped the car off and they will be picking me up today when I get out of work. So far no complaints. The service guy (Isaac) also told me that they should have 3 loaner cars available by the end of the month so you won't have to go through withdrawal while they work on your baby.

Go ya one better...

Left my house this morning in my truck with the wife's car keys in my pocket...called home to find out if she had an extra key...no, it's at work. Should I drive the 25 miles home to give her the keys, traffic and all...she says:

"I guess I'll just have to drive the MINI"

This is why I have four sets of keys for the other non MINI cars we have at home. So you never have to leave the room you are in to walk a few steps and find a set of keys that will work. The keys for the MINI are the special kind and reside only in my pocket

I'm breathing again...she's here! She has read this and has a few words she would like to offer...

Well, I'm here and in one piece - the MINI, I mean. Although my husband has aged a few years over this, I think I can still get a few more good years out of him! Maybe I should get a MINI of my own to show him I can handle it!

Thank you. Now back to your regularly scheduled day!

Don't you just hate it when you have to share the car with the wife?

Ahhh... my car is ready. New windshield trim installed and the expansion tank was pressure tested and apparently OK (so they say).

They're picking me up at 3 from my office so I can take her home. 86 minutes and counting.

I bought a MD player last night so there's a little gift waiting for Nittany when she gets home from her "ordeal". I put the aux. input in last weekend, so as soon as I figure out how to get some music on one of those discs we'er good to go!

I had the windsheild problem. Mini of the Main Line fixed it in a matter of hours - and no problems since...

now the seeming lack of any power in 5th gear I had last night ont he highway.. that has my concern... but alas.

What minidisc player did you get, Im considering one

JerseyGirl,

You're the third, maybe fourth...make that fifth...person who has shown reservation to take their MINI to Princeton MINI for repairs/service. Why do so many MINI owners feel that way about Princeton MINI? That's where I bought my car, and (knock on formica), I haven't had to take it in for service....my first service will probably be in 3 months, when I reach 10,000 miles and need the first oil change. Should I take it to Princeton MINI for this, or not????

Thanks and rock on,

-Joe

Great news Jerseygirl...I hope that it is all to your satisfaction.

Sorry for the thread hijack...I was "beside myself" and delirious. All's well that ends well.

I got an inexpensive little Sony (don't remember the model #, but it is all black). It was $99 and will hold up to 5 hours of music on one disc. Sony has much fancier ones (even a blue one that matches my car) but I decided I didn't need any of the extra features on those. This will strictly be used in my car so I didn't feel the need for the AM/FM/Weatherband tuners that come on some of the more expensive models.

I'm sure the audiophiles among us will have reasons not to buy what I bought, but it suits my needs.

yea. you are gonna make me get one. i've always wanted one. I prefer it to MP3 players because iminsane and I like the idea of having discs instead of an ipod-like device.

preferences, you know? I have to take my baby in for some service soon.. perhaps she will recieve this same gift.

Yeah, I like the idea of being able to change the discs. And each disc pretty much holds the equivalent of a CD changer so it's like having multiple CD changers! Plus the discs are re-writable AND cheap to boot! Gotta love it.

Umm, hi. Popular to contrary belief, I'm not a Princeton MINI spy or anything.... heh. It's just I've gotten the feeling that more people would rather drive way out of their way to get their MINI serviced at Morristown or Mahwah instead of Princeton MINI, where they bought their car... gotta be reasons! Anyone care to explain? Maybe I should take this to the dealer feedback section.

Thanks and rock on,

-Joe

Robyn,

How's is the little guy?

Is he (she) OK from his (her) little ordeal at the dealership? Did he (she) play nice with the other Mini campers?

I hope your over your withdrawl and that the little one is tucked back into his (her) nice garage with the covers on.

Steven

LOL, cry me a river, I go to FSU and I'm not allowed to have my car here with me. I'm going home this weekend to see it, it will have been a week. After that, probably thanksgiving, then christmass, then spring break, then summer.

Oh, and we took a 700 some mile road trip in it saturday when we picked it up and we had no peeling issues, was doing lots of 90mph.

Hey Steve! She is safely tucked away in the garage. As far as I know she behaved herself while she was away, though I think she was showing off a little. I have to say I have no complaints with the service department at all so far.

Right now I'm trying to get some music on my new MD player so I can try out the Aux. input I put in this weekend. Gotta have that all ready for the Rt. 125 run in a couple weeks.

Are you going to be joining us for that?
