I heard there is going to be a new magazine for the new MINI published in the US or in North America.
I'm interested because I love my Mini, I'm a photojournalist and have published books & magazines before and I'M interested in publishing a MINI magazine myself.
If it's still possible, I'd love to put a mag together for all us crazy enthusiasts out there.
I'm looking for imput. undefinedundefined

I'll be your first subscriber! I'd even be willing to do some field trips and road tests for you

Someone really does need to publish something for us. MINI owners are so fanatical that subscriptions would be very popular.

Yeah, I think you could look to at least 9000 subscribers your first month! LOL. You could come shoot pics of Andre and put them in your mag!

It almost goes without saying that MOST of us on here would be subscribers. What's funny is, when I got my first MINI (spring '02), I was apparently given a subscription to one of those glossy BMW magazines...I assume my dealer or perhaps MINI NA did it. I moved from that address, and forgot to forward the magazine. Anyway, with my new MINI (early summer '03), I did NOT receive a bimmer mag subscription. Anyone else know what's up with that?

Thanks for all the quick responses.
As long as one of those guys that already have 50 car magazines out there aren't doing it, I'm real serious about it.
It's going to be grass roots for and by MINI owners (and lovers).
But, that doesn't mean it's not going to be slick and well designed like the buggies we drive.
Keeps those comments coming. I'm already working on a pub date.
When the time comes, I'll need all your help and we'll all get a chance to see ourselves in print.

I'm as enthusiastic as the others and would sure be a charter subscriber. It is easy, though, for us all to urge you on. It isn't our investment/risk. But it sounds like you've got enough background to be savvy about the business angle. I just want to be friendly enough to add a cautionary note.

On the other hand it is apparent you already have a bunch wanting to contribute so I hope you "gopher it" and it goes well!

I haven't seen one devoted to the North American market yet. I keep checking the shelves of Barnes and Noble. I know many of the people at MOTR subscribe to the MINI World mag from the UK (some title like that). That's because it covers the classic and the now the new one but that mag is expensive to subscribe to in NA.

I wish I had the time and the money to help you out. I was thinking about doing the same thing but I have neither. I know there is a mag out of Boulder that started for Snowboarders. Now the big guys are trying to play catch up to the succes of that private mag.

Contact the various car clubs when you have something together. I will help spread the word at ours when the time comes.

Good luck.

Blubelle's ready to be on the First Issue cover. With a centerfold poster and bio of course.

There is a MINI sponsored mag in the EU I believe. There are also several classic/new MINI mags in the UK. However as far as the US goes the closest we have to an actual MINI publication may be (at the risk of sounding self promotional) Bridger.us/MINI

There is no New Beetle mag yet either. And that car has been out since 1998 and has always had a huge following of fanatics, even more so than the new mini from what i can tell. I should know cause I'm one of the new beetle fanatics. I had 2 of them, my brother one. my wife one...all at the same time!
But something else i noticed in my neck of the woods is magazine sales dropping. I'm sure has to do with the internet. But if there was one, i sure as heck would buy one. I'm just not surprised there isn't.

Mmmmm... If I print out all the pages of MCO, copy them... staple them... then stuff in some cards to drop out...

Seriously, it's a good idea, Billyd! But do it with a solid business plan, and not out of love for this car.

God speed.

I searched all over the internet for MINI magazines.
There are the UK versions, which I find and pay like $7.50 for them.
Cool magazine.
There was another one, but I can't remember the name.

In the US, it doesn't seem to be a magazine devoted to MINI only.
The best magazine I found with MINI stuff in it is EURO Tuner.
MINI, BMW, and VW seem to me the big interests. I theink they did a
MINI devoted issue a while back.

I'm on board! Sign me up.

Sounds like a good idea. Using off the shelf desktop publishing it shouldn't be too hard to get a MINI mag out. Very time consuming though. I'm a professional screenwriter (who not surprisingly, doesn't really enjoy writing) but doing some occasional articles and photos on MINI would be fun. Consider me a resource if you decide to go through with it.

We do have a pair of MINI project cars, and as the car is very much on the radar of amateur motorsports right now, it will continue to be covered heavily in future issues of GRM. In case you missed my earlier thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...mp;topic=17365

If someone does start a MINI-exclusive magazine, be sure to let us know so we can get it at the office!

Thanks for all your input. With all this copyright nonsense with BMW I'm scared to death about a good magazine name.

Any suggestions for a magazine name dedicated to the New MINI???

Some names that I think might be work:

R53W11 (Might not be agreeable though by the Coop owners though)
Transverse
Transverse 4 Cylinder
Almost 12
12 x 6 x 5 (approximate length width height)

(In order of best to worst )

THE DOG'S BOLLOCKS would look good on a cover (especially if "Bollocks" is spelled correctly)
