Install smaller SC pulley or new springs

My birthday is coming up and of the several things I'm contemplating suggesting that the Mrs could get or do for me, two things i've considered are either having the upgraded Alta SC pulley I've had in a box for sometime now, installed or having my Tein S lowering springs (which have also been collecting dust and black widows in my garage) installed.

Can't do both at same time and it'll probably be several months in between the next install of something, so what do you think would be more enjoyable for day-to-day and weekend driving - the sc or the springs?

I wanted to do this as a poll, but don't see the option listed anywhere on the new thread page. help????

If you ask me do the pulley. The springs are going to do very little for handling....they are more for looks. But the pulley is by far the best mod that you could do to your car without going too crazy. So thats my .02....if you want looks go for the springs, but if its performance your looking for, hands down do the pulley!

Why not do both!

I am sure there is a MINI club close to you that would love to help out a fellow motorer.

wish we could afford to do both at the same time. it's painful to have new parts just lying around the garage. neither is a DIY I care to embark upon, so it'll be off to MiniCorsa (another reason it would be nice to do both at same time b/c it's about 75 miles one way to Danny's shop).

my MCS would definitely benefit asthetically from the springs as the 17" AC Schnitzer wheels and my low profile tires leave a larger than normal gap in the wheel well (i'm amazed by how much more agressive the MCS i see with the 16" S lites look than mine). however, i'd most certainly enjoy the more tuned ride with the springs.

but then again, a little more power would be nice too.

with the tein s springs on an 05 - will i be okay with the oem control arms?

You can't go wrong with the pulley

If you were close to me you could bring it over and we could knock both upgrades out in a day.

Again......see if any of the local clubs would offer to help do the install.

I know our local club would jump at the chance.

how much would you be paying for them to do the installs? If money is the limiting factor then go with the most expensive thing for your bday ... that way the cheaper stuff isnt that big of a deal.

Do the pulley and you will have a grin on your face everytime you drive. My thought is the MINI is already a great handling car stock but lacks the power. The pulley will solve this and you will still have a great handling car. Once you get the cash do the springs.
