HELP: How to remove the H7 headlight bulbs on a 2005 Cooper (clip removal issue)

Did someone already removed a H7 bulb in a 2005 Mini Cooper ? I'd like to replace the usual bulbs with extra white ones (DOT approved, anyway) and I'm struggling with the clip removal that would set the bulb free ... After 3 trial, they won't move
Any help (ideally with pictures) would be a great support

There are no clips to speak of, you just pull the bulb out. Just pull the metal prongs, it will come out.

I just put Silverstar Ultras in my high beams and there are clips on them. Pull off the connector, then you have to push in ultil the clip slides into the slot, hold it in and then rotate the clips outward. they will spring out. The one in my passenger side was difficult and I used a pair of needle-nosed pliars to do it on that one.

Try releasing one then the other if you have problems--one may be easier than the other and once you get the knack, it will be easy.

BTW, make sure you old the bulb because it could pop out and fall to the ground.

the wording in Haynes for builds after 07/2004 :

after taking off the cover and removing the wiring plug...

press the middle retaining clip outwards, and remove the bulb. Note how the bulb fits in the slot on the rear of the headlight.

the picture to go with that shows the tip of a small screwdriver on the clip.

Yea, in his 2005 there are no clips. I was looking at it for a while thinking, how the heck does it come out? Then I just held the prongs and pulled—it came out very easily, just pull it directly back.

I also have tried with no luck...

I have a 05 Cooper S and I'm trying to pull the H7 bulb out... it looks like there are three clips around the sides of the bulb housing.

1. I removed the outside plastic cap
2. I disconnected the cable going in to the blub
3. now I'm stuck.

I should pull on the two prongs of the bulb??

push on 2 of the prongs and pull out, if you only get 1 out thats fine, then push on the rest and pull out. If you can release 2 that is better.

Do you push out on the prongs or in?

I see three little thin metal prongs at 2:00, 6:00, and 10:00.

Is that right?

You don't have to worry about the prongs. Just pull the bulb directly out, pull it downwards. It will come out! You don't have to worry about a screwdriver or to pull or push the prongs.

Wow. It worked. After a week of trying to figure it out, I just pushed out on one of the clips, wiggled it a little and it popped out.

Thanks!!!

Very easy.

H7 replacement

old bulb out / new bulb in very simple , just take your time.
there are 3 prongs on the clip, simply push 1 out while wiggling bulb, the bulb will move a bit but may not come right out,if not just push another one of the prongs out & presto ..there ya go!
make sure the new bulb is lined up exactly like the old one that came out & push in until it snaps & your done..replace the cover and thats it.
ZOOOOOOM
