R50/53 Autodimming mirror question.
Autodimming mirror question.
Just added an autodimming/homelink mirror to my 05 MCS. The mirror has/had a green tint to it before installing and seems to keep the same tint installed.
The homelink works fine but I can't really seem to detect any change when headlights shine on it. I have tried using a flashlight to shine right on the sensor but can't really see any change. (yes I hooked the wiring up to it which is why the homelink works)
In the daytime it definitely has a green tint compared to the sideview mirrors. Is this normal or is it "stuck" in the dimmed position?
Anybody?

mine turns a dark purple shade when someone behind me has xenons at night. otherwise it has no tint during the day time, the mirror doesnt change back instantly it takes a few minutes to readjust back as far as i know ill keep an eye out later tonight.
did you block the front sensor when you tested it? There has to be a difference between the sensors before the autodim triggers.
I just installed an auto-dim mirror on my 05 MCS too. It works fine, no wiring changes needed.

That would be really funny. (Why are all my stainless steel appliances blue?
)
I went out today and put my rear hatch up (it has a dark tint), covered the front sensor and put a flash light on the rear sensor. Success, it definitely dimmed. I think perhaps my rear tint makes so much less light hit the rear sensor that it only works a little.
No worries though, I bought it for the homelink which works awesome!
Thanks for the help.

Where did you buy your mirror from? Been looking for a while and haven't been able to find one other than the dealership.

Cool. Is it a plug and play part? When you asked, what exactly did you ask them for in order that they got you the right bits. Thanks in advance
