Try MiniUSA.com.
They used to have a web page with lots of info on the movie. May still and/or they can answer your question.

From what I read, the MINI's used in the MINI were 100% stock, except one scene in the LA subways, where they actually had to have MINIs that were electric rather than gas powered due to some California regulations. Other than that, the cars are completly stock, and when they saw that dude, "Wrench" for the upgraded suspension...he didn't really do anything to the suspension or anything else...but the MINI can't really hold all those gold bars. The weight of the gold bars if I remember correctly was almost the weight of the car itself, so that part was just bs...but the actual driving, and blasting around, and jumping around the helicopter to land on the camaro was all done with stock MINIs just as you see them. Mini donated about 35 MINI's to the movie, and i am not sure how many of those were made into electric MINI's.

As a side note, they were telling Charlize Theron that they wanted her to go to a special driving school, seperate from the guys and for a couple weeks longer...they even said they were going to have here driving an automatic....she seemed a little peeved about it in an interview, and said, " why do they assume that just because you are a woman you cant drive?!" She then proceeded to go to the same driving school as the rest of the guys, being the best driver by and land slide, and in the movie ends up driving the only supercharged MINI in the movie...not to mention the very cool driving with the classic MINI in the beginning...very cool flick.

On another side not, Marky Mark gaked all over the interior of his stunt drivers MINI after having a hearty breakfast, than going for a spin...lol...thats hilarious.

Here's a pic of my friend's MCS, it's an official limited edition Italian Job MCS sold by MINI Mexico. It has the identical specs of the MINIs in the movie and comes numbered with a certificate of authenticity and special "Italian Job" badging.
They were sold in Indy Blue, Chili Red and Pepper White.
Only a handful of these cars were sold through dealers, this on is #16.

Very cool #16. Makes me want to add some stripes and rally lights to my Indi Blue MCS with aero grilles and R90 wheelset. Our local dealer recently sold an indi blue MC with full IJ specs but no badging to an 84 year old retired physician. He looked pretty fit to me. Hope he knows what he's getting. That is a sharp MC with R90 wheels and all.
The car was a promotional demo for a sales rep for MINI in the IJ movie premiere in So. Cal. Later with miles on it, it was sent to Hawaii to sell. Not sure why it could not sell in So.Cal. Maybe the Hawaii dealer wanted it. It sold for about $25,000 and had some 3000 or so miles on it.

The minis used in the movie were not stock. A lot of modifications had to be done to the suspension to handle flying down stairs and taking massive jumps out of sewer pipes. Some had roll cages in them and also two steering wheels. One at the driver seat was not functional but the passenger seat containing the stunt driver was. This gave the appearance that the actor was driving the car. You can find out more interesting stuff about the movie at http://www.miniitalianjob.com/crm/si...sp?direct=none
