I could be wrong, but I'll let everyone else judge for yourself. Take a look at the review from Carroll in the MINI of Manhatten dealer review.

Rating

What do you think? Was this a really really really satisfied customer or a dealer using this sytem for his/her own interest?

No, I don't think the dealer wrote that.

He got his cousin to post it instead.

Whoever wrote it must have been absent on that day in 3rd grade when they covered that mysterious topic "The Paragraph".

It's obvious someone connected with this dealer wrote this. I'd say thats the best reason to stay away from them. Their sales must be so slow they are spending all day on the internet reading this forum. They still don't know MINI owners are smarter than that. The depths people will sink to!

This was either the dealer or an English Major! In medicine, we have patients the know the "symptoms" of diseases because they quote them verbatim from the books. This is exactly how I felt reading this post. I felt like I was reading an excerpt from a magazine test drive. I don't know who this person is or who they hope to fool. I am buying my MINI from Cinci MINI and I did not need any coercien (sp?) to post anything nice about them. See my dealer rating on the dealer site.

Yeah, it sounded pretty thick, but I don't know...maybe that's the way some people from Brooklyn and work in Manhattan speak??? I tried to find the last 10 comments by Carroll and nothing came up - not sure if maybe that feature isn't working??

So has anyone tried writing/PM'ing Dave Carroll? Carroll is listed as David in the user-list, so that shouldn't be out of the ordinary...maybe this was just one very enthusiastic MINI maniac? I konw I was looking past some things that my husband gave me a lot of crap about since I was so looking forward to my car

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm investigating to see if this is a valid post or not. Thanks again!

OMG... and 'dave' 'carroll' didn't think we'd notice? 'Oh, and I'm so glad they gave me extra crap that I really didn't want, and here are some 'real world' examples of why i'm so glad that they decided that i wanted this crap'...

WHAT?????????

That review is hellalame...

Rocketboy_X

(Oh, and I love how in the real reviews, the dealer claims the the car was ordered with a lojack system... wha-what?)

I think it sounds a little phony.....they just had a little bit too much to say about how great that dealership was. Do they LIVE in the building?
The impression I got about Mini of Manhattan was one like the one star rating above it anyway....my boyfriend's brother lives in Queens and is interested in getting a Mini so he went there. He said the service sucked, that the salespeople ignored him and when he asked them questions they were snooty and the wait list is astronomical.
DeeDee is a dream come true!

"You'd think there might be a problem of "snooty-ness" at such an exclusive BMW dealer, but I love the Cooper too much to even notice. "

My favorite line of the whole review.

To sum up: I like the car so much, I'm glad the dealer treats me like dirt!

Amazing.

I read it! ROLFMAO!! Am I wrong? But as I read it I could hear Robin Leech's voice of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" in my head.

The review is dripping with professional advertising spin and terms IMHO.

Caroll (or is it DAVE???) You MUST be kidding.
You must be #@)$*$@#() kidding!

MINI of Manhattan consistantly gets one star for a reason. Instead of trying to BS us, you should be trying to figure out how to fix what is obviously very, very broken.

I suggest those who live in the five buroughs (sp) take the time and make the trip to another dealer.

Ok here's another one.

Ferman MINI of Tampa Bay.

Previously poor reputation, in the last few days lots of 5 stars.

The last 2 one day after the other, from members #2893 and #2905.

No info in their member profile.
No previous posts from them.

I must admit, I'm afraid I don't have much faith in the dealer rating system.
Anybody think of a way of policing it?

Good point, Pebble.
I noticed that about the Ferman dealership, too, since that's
the closest dealer to me. It is a little strange. Previously,
someone had posted a neg review of Ferman on Roadfly.org
in the MINI section. The next day someone posted a rave
review. Unfortunately, the person posting that review didn't
realize that Roadfly displays your IP address. The IP address
for the positive poster was right next door at Ferman BMW.

It's sad when people stoop to this. I was hoping that Ferman was
improving but this makes me wonder. This (& Ferman's $2500
markup) is the reason I've ordered from Lauderdale.

This is too funny. I think that post must have been written by BMW's marketing department or ad agency. It's tooooooooo ridiculous to believe.

I know I already posted on this....but I just read it to my boyfriend so he could have a good laugh, too.
His reaction is as follows.....

"BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA HHAHAHHAHAHA"

My sentiments exactly.

I think I missed parts of it last time because it seemed more rediculous after a second read. OF COURSE I need a LOJACK! OF COURSE I need a CD changer! OF COURSE I need the full aero-kit! Do you really? If all that stuff was added on to MY car I would have to pass on it. Wee bit out of my price range......what could it have cost? Like $32K?

Cheers!
L.Mini

I'm glad I brought this to everyone's attention. If anything it's worth it for the laugh factor. I guess that's what he meant by "more smiles per miles," everytime you read the more ridiculous it sounds!
