Just how fast are we?

Of course racing, other than on a designated track, is illegal and all that polite stuff, BUT.......

How fast are we? Being relatively new to the MCS world and having come from the V8 truck world, I wonder just who will smoke me....and who will get smoked? Moderately mod'd, I feel pretty darn fast. I must be near the 200whp or just under. But with the power to weight ratio.....who are the real competitors out there? Would an S2000 be fun at a green light? How about those new GTIs? A 2 liter Mazda? (not speed3) What class are we in? And I don't mean 1.6LSC class. You know what I mean.....who can I run with and not be embarassed with? Who don't you even try? (and don't say Ferrari and 4S) Be realistic....I'm curious.

Look at the way the SCCA classifies cars for autocross, that should give you a bit of an idea.

Oh, and IB4L.

Let's see an S2K if your modded will be a good run.

You will lose to a MS3

You will lose to a new GTI

Take it to a road course and it's a different ball game. The mini was not ment for straight line speed.

So far...

VW Jetta 1.6T (heavily modded) = smoked
Civic Si = eaten alive
V6 Accord = what was spat out after eating the Civic Si

One of these days I'd like to find out how my car does against a Mustang GT.

My old R50 could smoke most pickup trucks. I wouldn't even consider it a feat in my S.

PS - My MCS is bone stock right now

Really? I'd think that would at least be close. And I'm pretty sure a JCW would give it a run for it's money.

How much does the 2010 GTI weigh?

Awesome answers.....this is what I was talking about. When you say smoked and eaten alive.....I am assuming YOU did the smokins and eatins. I should be slapped prolly, I know.....

PS- I drove MS3 before buying my Mini....it was too fast. I'm not sayin' I couldn't handle it....just couldn't afford the speeding tix. INSANE fast. If you have the chance...drive it just to see. The Mini is WAY mobettah.

Meant to comment on your note about MS3. I knew that. Stupid fast, that car is.

Yep!

Also, even though the MS3 is fast... I would still run it anyway. ESPECIALLY, on a road course.

What model Jetta? I don't think any of them have ever been 1.6L unless you mean the old 80's diesels?

I'm assuming you mean the MKIV 1.8t? The 1.8t's "heavily modified" in the VW scene are usually running good sized aftermarket turbos and putting down numbers much higher than the current R56's right now.

The GT will take a stock MCS, but not by an embarrasing margin. The GT next to a JCW with a 15% pulley and a tune will be embarrased.

haha so it took me a minute to find the thread you were referring to, but here I am! lol..
I beat out an S2000 from a dead stop at a stoplight and my Stella is un modded. Its possible that the blonde behind the wheel didnt know what her car could do, but I like to think I smoked her good. lol...Pretty easily I might add.
That said, my husband recently smoked a mid life crisis in his brand new corvette; and you KNOW that guy knew what his car could do. These little cars are badder than they look!

I have the short shifter too which gives a nice surprise to those unsuspecting. The Vette scene must have been priceless.

Glad you found the thread.......

Just compare some 1/4 mile ET's and trapspeeds to get a good idea of what your car can hang with... I've ran mine at a dragstrip to see what it could do (see signature) in it's mostly stock form. I know it won't keep up with a new MS3 or new WRX, but it'd be a good run with a GTI, for example.

Exactly....and it's not like I go around challenging people, but everyone who owns this car for the same or similar reasons I do, likes to get on it sometimes and when the kid (pardon the expression from a 36 year young) next to me in his 1st car thinks he's the new sliced bread.....well it's fun to make a ham sammy outta him.

we should definitely specify wat mods people have done when posting..
like for me example..
i have a one-ball mod, ddm intake, and 15% pulley..
yet i havent really gunned it much..

(sooner or later i will be getting a giac tune..just a simple tune..custom tune later in the future )

but anyways make sure you guys add wat mods you've done to your minis
