Anybody have JCW intake box in their (just) MCS?

Hi guys,

Does anybody have JCW intake box in their (just) MCS??

If so , how much horsepower will be added? how much different?

Do i need to bring it back to dealer to flash the ECU after it installed?

One of my friend got it awhile ago , but it couldn't install it ...

Don't know what's wrong....

Please, advise!!

Thanks All..

1) Don't count on getting any HP from an intake alone.
2) It will sound better / louder supercharger whine at high RPMs.
3) No ECU flash required for just the JCW intake. It runs off vacuum and by reading RPM voltage - ECU has nothing to do with it.

Great CAI, adds about 5hp and you DO NOT need the ECU flashed. Needs to be wired to the correct terminal for the flap to work properly along with the vacuum connection.

Check out the Dyno testing numbers on the JCW Intake in this posting.

There's somthing to be gained, a little HP and a little torque. It's certainly not a magic pill, but it's not a wasted $$$ mod either.

With all due respect... that test showed that intake+exhaust yielding +1ftlb of torque.... which I suspect is well within the run-to-run margin of error of just about any dyno... especially accounting for differences in cooling, etc. between runs... of course it "felt" faster.... his wallet was several hundred bucks lighter.

That said - I have one, so I don't think it's wasted $$$... but others have shown that big power can be made on the stock intake... you gotta really move some air through the SC/IC/Manifold/Head/Header/Exhaust before the airbox becomes the weak link... but they sound NICE

Maybe I will clean my glasses and read the thread again. I came away from reading that thread feeling that the exhaust upgrade did not do anything and the CAI gained slightly in HP and torque. That being said to pay $260 (FleaBay) for a JCW CAI w/ upgraded filter element to get a few HP & lbs of torque and enhanced sound was not a bad ROI. Several hundred $$$ not so good. That is the basis of my understanding & statements. Maybe you could accomplish the same thing w/ a K&N filter and cutting holes in the intake box for much less? But then you have hacked holes in your intake box. I am trying to get some increases in performance while staying close to OEM performance upgrades. That's my personal approach for my daily driver...

Don't get me wrong - I'm a BIG fan of the JCW intake... I just don't want anybody thinking they're gonna get much if any "umph" outta it... if "umph" is what you're looking for... pulley is mod #1... and you're better off saving what you woulda spent on even a discounted JCW intake to get the pulley earlier... unless you're confident you're gonna get them all pretty soon... then don't pass up a bargain.
