Aftermarket sunroof?

Hey people!

I'm curious about something... does anyone think it would be possible to get a sunroof installed in a hard-top '03 MCS?

I'll tell you what. You can have my factory sunroof. We can swap the roof shell, headliner, sunroof rails, and glass.

What brand did you get? I had a Webasto installed on my Explorer Sport and it works very well. It looks like a stock item.

I wouldn't recommend installing any aftermaket sunroof. Too much opportunity for error and problems.

I'm with Mark on this one. It could wind up being perfectly fine, but with something like that there's a lot more opportunity for something really really bad to go down. And as expensive as a new sunroof would be, would you really want to risk it?

AC Schnitzer sells a "California Top" for the MINI, its kinda like the mod on old VW bugs and vans, its just like the California Top that BMW did on the 318ti. Other than that I would be leary of aftermarket sunroof. Why a sunroof? It adds weight (oem 60lbs) to the car at the worst possible spot....the top.

Something else to think about..... If you put in a non-factory sunroof, you will be killing your resale value.

If I didn't like my roof vinyl so much I'd think about doing a rag top like this http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/sunconkit.html I don't like the OEM Glass Roof, but would like a rag top.

I never use my panoramic sunroof. I just leave the Stratmosphere shade up there all the time. I just consider it as a waste of weight, and way up high, exactly where you don't want it.

I guess it can't hurt for resale, but since I will never sell my car that's not really a factor.

AC Schnitzer Folding Roof

Here is some info on the ACS top and link.
http://dev.ac-schnitzer.de/en/mini/p...3/aerodynamic/

MINI Programe-AC Schnitzer Folding Roof
The absolute eyecatcher - for viewers on both the outside and inside - is the AC Schnitzer folding roof for the Coupé version which with its 710 x 810 mm opening almost gives the MINI that wonderful cabriolet feeling.

Personally, I think you're in for a world of hurt. It's your car, and if a sunroof makes you happy, go for it.

But, be happy with the extra top weight, probable leaks in the future, and heat in the summer.

I love my sunroof and wouldn't be without it. But if my options were no sunroof, or aftermarket sunroof, I'd go without. Too many things can go wrong.

I do love the ragtops though!
