What needs to be done at 65k miles

My 2006 Cooper S is at the 65k point. She is my DD 5 days out of the week and has no performance mods. That said, she sees not much heavy RPM acceleration and/or abuse. I have been changing the oil every 7500 miles or so. Air filter as been changed as needed. Recently changed out the thermostat due to a slight rise in temps. Brakes were also changed out. Needless to say, she has been well maintained.

I have come up with the list below of things to do but I wanted to get a feel from the NAM guys if you have any thing to add/remove.

1. Change belts
2. Coolant flush
3. Spark plugs
4. Diff fluid change
5. Transmission fluid
6. Spark plug wires
7. Check belt tensioner
8. ??
9. ??

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would change the plug wires with the plugs. While you are changing the belt you might want to add one of the aftermarket tension stops too, it's $20 insurance and peace of mind.

Thanks for all the PMs regarding maintenance suggestions. I will definitely take them into account when I start to order some parts. I am a member of several car forums. Most are just plain useless. NAM has some quality members!

Thanks again. Keep the suggestions coming.

Good Thread, I'm approaching the 65K mile too. Keep us posted. I'd like a copy of this list.

When was the last time you checked the ball joints or control arm bushings? CV joint boots?

Good point to bring up Nabe.

I am picking up set of M7 Control Arm Busings for 99 bucks.

I was noticing that when driving over irregulatries in the roadway my MCS has a tendency to dart to either the left to right.

Mine are due for replacement and I have almost 65k on speedo.

I am at 51K and getting my stock rubber bushings (They are shot) replaced next week with Powerflex urethane bushings. Can't wait.

I changed the manual tranny oil at about 50K and it was like mud. After I changed it, the shifting was much improved. My car is nearing 60k and I have changed the plugs, wires, coolant flush, air filter, cabin air filter. All the belts look good. Suspension feels fine and the brakes have a lot of life. I am hoping to get 100k miles with minimal $...

Is the tranny fluid separate from the LSD? I didn't know that they were different.
