Do you have any MINI-isms?

Mini-ism (verb) - An uncontrollable behavior brought on by owning a Mini.

I am a new Mini owner, and since I have started driving my new 05-S I have developed all sorts of Mini-isms:
  • I drive 5 miles out of my way on the way to work to take a big sweeping off ramp at 70mph.
  • I have the overwhelming urge to wash my car and detail it every weekend.
  • I use the last drop of milk so I can drive to the market and buy a gallon.
  • I am obsessed with my MPG.
  • I spend way to much time surfing MiniMani.com and MiniCarParts.net looking for cool things to buy.
  • In a parking lot, I walk around the car before I get in it looking for dings put there by the vehicle next to me. (That's if I park within 200 yards of another vehicle)
  • I keep a little book in the glove box that notes my fill ups, dates and mileage.
  • Whenever my wife and I run errands I always volunteer to take my car.
I'm hooked...

Are there other Mini-isms that I can expect to get as time goes on?

If I need a dozen eggs, I go to get them one egg at a time. Don't dare ask me to go for a bag of rice...

Sounds like me. I changed my route from I-10 to memorial because of the turns.
I have always washed my cars on a weekend... it's my Zen.
I always volunteer to drive Mojo, but I get shot down. The wife was t-boned in a small car and has "fear" so we have to take her Ram... funny how that worked, she gets the truck and I was "forced" to take a small car.

What are you doing still buying milk in full gallon quantities? It's fresher when you run to the market for each cup!

Hey I was thinking a half gallon if you are a heavy milk drinker.

-Waking up for 3am drives then going back to bed at 4:30 before anyone is out.
-Enjoy taking left hand turns under green with no opposing traffic.
-Give up on keeping detailed records of stuff beyond maintenance intervals.
-Washing your car every other week, if not longer.

saying, out loud, 'Meenii' every time we see another Mini/MINI. Even if there are non-mini driving infidels in the car.

The only other "affliction" (as if this could be bad in any context) that has not already been listed is my Motoring Assistant missionary duties. Whenever anyone and everyone expresses any interest in Maggie, my 06R53, or MINIs in general, I take the opportunity to spread the word about the joys of MINI ownership. I'll answer all of their questions about comfort, driveability, mileage, maintenance, etc. Most folks are truly surprised as they were expecting something like a dull Yugo or drab, fuel efficient Toyota. Though, between us, I do not like the look of the Clubman (and don't get me started on the Crossman), I never, ever bad mouth the Family to outsiders. There're still the looks, the driveability aspects of the cars, the Community that make this whole experience so invigorating!!

Cheers!!

1. I take corners faster than my parents recommend
2. My background and screen-saver (computer and phone) are of Minis
3. I wore MINI cufflinks to my formal
4. My phone has a MINI tassel on it
5. People wonder why I rather go for a long drive than go to a party :p
6. I don't drive fast, thats just what I call "spirited" driving

AWESOME! This group is so creative, I never would have thought of buying milk by the cup and eggs individually. You people are onto something. I think I am going to volunteer to do the grocery shopping from now on and buy items on the grocery list one at a time. That should get me 30 - 40 trips to the grocery store per week. If I go to the store across town I can take the highway with the clover leaf. Thank you, I never could have come up with this on my own!

I have plenty of MINI-isms and, on a daily basis, the extremely satisfying MINI-GASM! ;-)

As Queen sang: "I'M IN LOVE WITH MY CAR!"

I walk around the car before driving off, to check tires and make sure there are no extra dings, etc. My cousin thinks this is funny, and says I am doing a 24-point check.

I don't mind that I have MINI-isms, however, I am concerned how my children are also developing MINI-isms with me!

Cheers!!
