R50/53 DiD: MANY Pics of my SoCal Move in the MINI
As most of you know I recently moved to SoCal from Denver and drove here in my MINI. I just thought I'd show some pictures from the trip and my first weeks here in L.A.
Packing the MINI

On the road in Utah

My singlespeed mountain bike with the Yakima Bike Rack and Thule Velovice trays. There was no slipping or damage to the plastic gutters even after 14 hours at 85+ mph.

Some gage pics

Nevada was H O T

time passes as I look for a place to live
-----------------------------------------------
A shot in Santa Monica

On Kanan in Malibu

On PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) in Ventura (just outside L.A. county on the way to Pt. Magu)

In "The Valley" (Newberry Park Area)

I'm hoping to be on MCO more soon, my internet access is a little infrequent still, but DSL gets set-up soon. :D

Dave,
Welcome to LA! Your photos remind me of the excitment of coming to a new place. So often we get used to seeing all the local sites and forget to appreciate it.
Now, that you're here, a little advice:
1- Get a front license plate ASAP! They love to slap you with one of those fix-it tickets!
2- ALWAYS read the posted parking signs, traffic enforcment is really tough.
3- Find your way to Mulholland Drive for some fun curves! Motor on!
Enjoy!

Welcome to LA! I'll admit that after 3 years of motoring around here I haven't seen half the stuff you photographed there. Anyway, I highly recommend Topanga Canyon Road in Malibu if you want some badass curves. I scared the smoke out of my passenger when I threw him some lift-off oversteer up there yesterday. Definately check that out.
Other advice about LA- get one of those "Don't Mug Me" life-size male dummies for your passenger seat to take advantage of the carpool lane!
And if you ever need flowers or cloth for anything, go to the flower and garment districts downtown - head east off Figeroa around 8th.
And get some In-N-Out Burger!

You might want to check those wheel wells...looks like your back end was dragging the whole way there

Enjoy the new found horsepower, I'm jealous!

Welcome to Southern California. Now that you are here, take advantage of everything this area has to offer...including at least 3 NFL games on TV each Sunday!!! Who says we need a team in LA?? The best advise I saw, however, was to find your nearest IN-N-OUT for a Double-Double. I like mine "Animal Style" with some of the yellow peppers on the side (you have to ask for the peppers). Great pics!!
