What is this part??

I was cleaning out my glove box this morning and noticed an odd, round shaped item located on the left side in my glove box. I took a closer look at it this afternoon and cannot for the life of me figure out what it is!

It has a dial on the front which only turns counterclockwise 90 degrees. There is also a hole on the right side of it which gets covered up when the dial is turned. I tried to look inside the hole but cannot see anything. I also stuck my finger in there to see if there was anything there...nada.

I took a few pics of it. Does anyone have any ideas what this is and what it's used for? Please let me know. Thanks in advance!

When open it allows air in to cool your glovebox. I dont know if thats the official purpose but it does do that at least.

its the vent that allows you to cool/heat your glove box. It connects to your AC and it turns so you can either have the airflow on or off. It'll cool a bottle of water or keep a candy bar from melting as long as the car is running and the AC is on, its good for trips etc.
