Thule Roof Rack

Just purchased a Thule roof rack with Yakima bike racks. So far I like it alot. I opted out of the fairing. I figured I could always add it on if the noise bothered me. So far it hasnt, but I havent gone faster than 60 MPH. Its a little noisier than usual, but the car overall is still quieter than my Golf. Is there anyone who cant live without the fairing?

I think the fairing deffinatly ties the rack in together and makes it look alot nicer, but I am trying to save some money, and not put on things that I dont need. It will come eventually. I mean, I havent even owned the car for a week.

ther is a thread somehwere about a fairing that ws modified for a red Mini. worth a look if you go that direction, I opted for the OEM racks and take them on and off in minuutes, from my point of view the fairing would have complicated the process, might have scratched the roof , but if you find the thread, it sure looked good...

I have a Thule on a white roof and I know others with the black roof put clear vinyl under the feet. Seems they show wear on the black very easy.

Looks good. How are your gutters? I've heard stories about the gutter getting messed up by aftermarket roof racks.

I have the full aluminum version and like it a lot for surfing and snowboarding. I don't have the fairing and do notice the wind noise but not enough to want me install that ugly add on. I would say save your money, don't buy it.
Also, be careful on how much pressure you add onto those racks!! The first time I used them I put a little to much pressure and made a little dent on the roof.
Anyways, i will be selling them soon as I am waiting for my new JCW09 to arrive and will start selling items such as the Thule rack, and the Mini eventually.

They seem to be fine. I might notice something when I take the rack off.

DD is right, be careful. That front set is as far forward as you dare put it, I'd even move it back 4 inches. That leading edge is the weakest point on the roof line.
