R56 Front Brakes on an R52

I bought a set of R56 front brakes for my R52 because the seller said they're the same as the JCW brakes except not red and will fit just fine.

This afternoon the installation went very smoothly until I tried to attach the brake lines. They won't fasten because there are no threads inside the hole on the caliper where the lines attach.

Now I'm down unless I either undo the install and re-install the original brakes...

Can anyone here help me out?

What am I missing? Did I throw away $350?

I'm waiting to hear from the seller and wanted to check here to see if anyone has done this swap and can bail me out.

Thanks!

You need the R56/R53 JCW brake hoses. After that, you're home free!

just need the R56 lines. See this link, https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=112474

You got a deal, wish I could find a set.

By the way, we do have Carbotech pads for the R56 brakes.

Thanks, much! I'll hit the dealer first thing in the morning--glad I kept my truck...

Tell me more about the Carbotech pads... why are they better?

One more thing... what about the lack of thread inside the hole on the caliper? From the photos I can find of R56 brake lines, I'm gonna need threads, aren't I? Or am I missing something?

Hello John,

Thanks for asking. There are two great street pads from Carbotech.

Bobcats, are the low dusting, better stopping them OEM pad, a fav for street and AutoX owners that like clean wheels.

AX6 are pads designed for AutoX and stop as if you had dropped an anchor out of the boot . About the same dust level as OEM, but STOP NOW!

All the CT pads are rotor friendly and still hand made in the states

Also note when your R56 OEM Rotors need replacement, that the NEW TSW OEM replacements will be ready to ship too.

Chad at Detroit Tuned came through for me and FedEx will deliver the SS lines this morning in time for tomorrow's road trip. Next time I'll start modifying a bit earlier.

Thanks to all for your suggestions and advice!
