i'm in the process of removing the tranny from my 2003MC due to clutch problems, and i'm stuck. there's this special tool the book talks about, which apparently holds the engine in "installation position" (BMW tool 00 0 200). evidently, i don't have this tool, so i just tried to support the engine with a jack, and lower it an inch and a half to get clearance for the removal of the transmission. although this works, having the weight of the engine only sitting on a jack scares me to death when i think about trying to pull the tranny off. i have a basic engine support cross member, but i can't figure out where to attach it to the engine, because the book does not describe how to set up the special tool. any suggestions?

 

Can you get some jack stands under the engine to hold it?
