Explain to me how this happened...
I just got back from out of town, and I had left my Mini at home. (My sister had been driving it). When I got home I noticed a weird ding in the back bumper on the right side. Instead of being an indention, this ding is sort of mushroomed out of the bumper. How would something like this happen? I'm putting some pictures in my gallery, sorry the car is a little dirty. I don't see how a rock or something could hit inside the bumper and cause this. Any ideas?
If someone backed into something with the MINI or got hit in the back bumper, the surrounding area could have been compressed slightly, and if that specific point has a bolt or sturdier backing behind it, it would leave that sort of indentation.
Hopefully that makes sense...

The answer is very simple.... Your dear sister either hit someone or was hit by someone.
The damage you see is from the right rear bumber being hit from an extreme right angle to the bumper
causing the bumper to kind of fold at the ridge of the plate that holds the bumper in place.
Let me see if I can find a picture of the area that I'm talking about and I'll post it here.

The aluminum bumper beneath the painted bumper cover has support structure at that very spot. As stated above, your car hit or was hit something that compressed the bumper.

I wouldnt make a big deal over it. In the end, your relationship with sis is more valuable than the MINI. I am sure she was not happy about it either
Based upon many years of accident reconstruction/investigation, I find it odd that there was no paint transfer or transfer of any kind ?
What ever did this hit it very hard, and would have left some scratches/scuff or other tranfer. Therefore I would have to say the bumper had a little "clean up" before you got home with some "Goof off" and Carnuba wax...

Yeah its no big deal those things happen. But about there being clean up...knowing her she wouldn't think to clean it up haha. She said she didn't hit anything so ill believe her. maybe someone backed into my car in a parking lot
Could she have run over a stick or something? As she drove along the stick got kicked up by the back wheel and got lodged in the bumper, which then hits the ground and dents it from the inside. Stick breaks and she keeps going like nothing happened.
Sister have a bf ?
No matter, just get your MINI fixed, How about replacing it with an Aero rear Bumper facia ????
You can then repair the damaged one and sell it...
The WRX Fairies did it.
They get sooooooooooooo jealous when someone buys a MINI instead of a WRX that they fly around at night, waving their tiny magic wands, leaving little unexplainable scars on our cars to drive us crazy.
They're a very revengeful lot, those WRX Fairies.
