Headed up to Limerock race track today for the end of MINI/BMW Fest in CT. This was an all weekend event, kinda like a MINI woodstock, and people actually camped there!! On Saturday night they showed the Italian Job on a big screen on one of the hills. Todays events were the best however. The turnout was huge mustve been over 200 MINIS/minis! Caravans rolled in from Keeler MINI, Habberstad MINI, Prestige MINI and Stamford MINI! No Westchester... Reps from MINI USA were on hand...one (the MINI USA product manager) told me that Bluetooth will be def coming for the MINI, and it will be retrofittable! No word on the software update. Also Mike Cooper was there, along with Jack Pitney (CEO of MINI USA) and Tony Nuzzo (the MINI race car driver). The classic MINIs got to run real races, and we got to do a parade lap. The lap quickly turned into chaos though as MINI owners got bored and started hauling *** and passing each other on the track! (you just cant contain that racer spirit when you put someone in a MINI on a race track) On Saturday, they had test drives of Z4's and John Cooper Works cars...it was cool you just signed the waiver and off you went...in your own in a Z4 or Cooper Works car! Was great seeing everyone..CS Dan, GMINI, BLUE MCS...all my MCO friends. For those who missed this, you MISSED OUT! Here are some pics to make you wish you were there.

Sounds very cool! Thanks for the report.

Did you get to drive the Works on the track?

Did you talk with Jack Pitney about domain names?

The MINIs/minis line up in the paddock to run the track... Up front is Mike Cooper (son of John Cooper), Jack Pitney (CEO of MINI USA) and no he didnt have bodyguards, and Tony Nuzzo. And yes....thats Phil from Grafikdezine.com crammed into the back of Habberstad's classic MINI!

No one from MINI USA would talk about MCO or the Stumble/Idle issues.

Too bad that politics rule, especially at a PR event. Did you get a good look at the Nuzzo car?

Yeah the Nuzzo car was TOTALLY stripped down. No rear wiper, no back seats, no plastic trim, no door panels, ect... The intercooler was removed and a new one added near the radiator. The exhaust was re-routed and came out the side of the car. Also he was running a stock engine, pulley ect... Suspension was totally changed and there was some water injection, an intake, a short shifter and a few other mods. He actually has two cars that he uses.

DAMN! I totally forgot about this, I spent the day getting ready for my Hawaiian vacation, which starts tomorrow and watching The Weather Channel because Kona was under a hurricane watch, then was downgraded to a tropical storm watch, but it looks like I'm good to go as it's clearing up. I can't wait to get out of here, my first real vacation in two years.

If you Hawaiian motorers on the big island read this, when you see some nut in a Mitsubishi Spyder flashing lights and waving, it's just me, so wave back

X2

Antsmini,

It was good seeing again. ( I am the guy that also had problems with Westchester BMW/MINI) Great Pics! I wonder if anyone video taped the MINI parade? Anyway, I couldn't believe that we were able to go as fast as we did!!
